Chargers Defense Lacks Emotional Leader Yeah, it's a big blow to us. We lose our best pass rusher and the voice of our defense. However, if you go to the games and watch the sidelines, you'll see that Shaun Phillips hypes up the defense just as much as Merriman does. I'm going to suspect that "the other Shaun" will take over the duties of being the vocal leader on the field. Also, when Stephen Cooper returns from suspension, he'll join in the mix.
