Hopefully he gets those chances while those other guys are out. I don't think he'll get playing time if he isn't able to establish worthiness early on. The kid has talent and he likes the big stage, he scored his first international goal against Mexico after all.
At 18, he's usually the strongest guy on the field. He's got great pace, but unlike the other freaky athletes that the US has, Altidore has all the skills needed to make the athletics useful. He's got all the moves, he knows how to find space, he's good in the air, he's good from distance, he runs at people, and he finds the open man when necessary. He's the best forward the US has, but it seems that he's fallen out of favor with Bob Bradley, despite scoring against Mexico.
Well I think at 18 he might have a good chance to prove his worth in the LA Liga, and show the national manager how good he is.
