Link. I don't care what kind of shape he's in, it's absolutely amazing that a guy as physical as he was can still play in the NHL at 46. Kudos to Chelios.
Honestly so crazy how well of shape he is in. I can see being that old and playing but being that old and still better than most is crazy.
Man, I wish all older athletes paid attention to what Chelios did. Instead of playing crazy minutes up until the very point he was used up, he tapered off as he got older (from 30 MPG, to mid 20s, to 18 to 16). So even though he has had some injuries, whenever he's been on the ice, his level of play has not suffered. He's not what he was in his 20s and 30s, but his play has not declined in a long time. He just can only do it for 15 minutes or so. That's a pretty damn fine third pairing defenseman.
Gary Roberts is much like the same. If only every player watched his career like that rather than going for the big paycheck then retire.
