I thought that it was obvious that Wally would be used in trade bait to get the Cavs another superstar player. Hopefully they can do so and, the way Ferry's handled this offseason, I expect him to utilise Wally's expiring contract well.

I hope Mike Brown does try to create an actual offensive system, rather than just "let LeBron deal with it". That's perhaps slightly harsh, as they did use the pick and roll a decent amount, but that's not really a system. With the possibilities of a small lineup, the Cavs could go on the fast break and try to push the tempo more than they have since LeBron entered the League. And if the thought of a 6'9, 250lb man charging towards you going for a massive dunk doesn't worry a defender, I don't know what will.

West is a great 3rd guard IMO, he's got a decent shot, can handle the ball and pass it rather well and doesn't turn it over at a rate that would make you cringe. If that's my first guard off the bench.. woo hoo IMO.
If I need West to start and play 30+ mins a game.. well you'e in trouble. Case in point West get 30+ with the C's and the record of the team.

While I find Ferry to be an idiot when it comes to team building, he does understand the RFA market.

If he can't turn Wally's contract into anything by the deadline, he'll have failed this season in my eyes.

so who could you guys get back for wally? or who would you like? really, what is the most realistic trade that could go down? alot of teams im sure would be interested, but what is the position that needs to be filled, and what kind of player would compliment lebron best? id say a big man, but its really unlikely that any will be available at all.

i think they will regret the signing come two years. I think they overpaid to resign both Gibson and West, but I guess they decided to gamble on West in learning that Snow's salary is probably coming off the books.

They appear to have got West on a three year deal, the first is worth $3.875m, followed by something like $4.2 or $4.2m in year 2, and a similar rise for the third year, but only $500k in the third year in guaranteed. So, if the Cavs want, they can cut him in the 2010 offseason and will only need to pay him $500k
