http://www.theknicksblog.com/2008/09/08/league-source-z-bo-deal-hinging-on-first-round-pick/ I said it before and I'll say it again: Getting rid of Zach isn't worth a first round pick unless we can get another expiring contract, or a young player.
The Grizzlies should just give up Shimmy Boy and get it done. They don't need both knuckleheads (Shimmy and ZBo) around Gay, Conley and Mayo anyways.
"Why would they need a first rounder? They're getting a 20-10 player!" -casual NBA fan/stat nut on the brink of epiphany.
I would prefer this as long as it's not an expiring contract. I would rather not do this deal at all, but it's really looking like it's going to happen.
The past few years the Knicks have crippled themselves by giving up countless picks ranging from lottery to second rounders. With them owing an unprotected pick to Utah next year, they are in no position to freely give up these first rounders. Although Zach is overpaid, he still is one of the league's best rebounders and a nightly double-double threat. That will always be coveted in this league.
Portland tried to trade him and the best they could get was Frye and the carcass of Steve Francis. Since then, ZBo has only lowered his trade value. ZBo is not coveted by any team in the NBA. Zeke was his last hope and now ZBo is an unwanted slug
Im a Grizz fan and I think we should get a first. I think Darko has better trade value in this league than Randolph does. You can protect the pick if you want.
It's funny the Knicks and Grizzlies are talking trade. Both sides are probably thinking they are screwing over the other team by getting rid of there crap in Darko and Z-Bo
