Decent list, but I have more faith in Thornton this year than Julian Wright. And where are guys like Webster or Outlaw?
I have Thornton on the top of this list. I just think that with the minutes he'll be getting combined with his skillset and abilities, he'll just outshine the rest.
I have issues here...I don't like picking 2nd year players to be "breakout" players. To me, it just seems natural that they're going to improve. It's like the annoying thing the league has a tendency to do with the Most Improved Player award - pick some random 2nd year player who jacked his scoring average up from his rookie season to the next. It's annoying and it's something that's highly likely to happen anyways. As for the list itself, I'd say it's mostly trash. I can really only see Williams and Thornton having legit breakout seasons. I don't foresee Conley to explode this year. Ronnie Brewer already made drastic strides last year. Wilson Chandler and Ramon Sessions are two players that could have good years, but I'm not completely sold on either of them. As for Julian Wright...he's still much to raw in my opinion. His offensive skills are purely athleticism based. He doesn't have a real great jumper yet so he HAS to rely on his athletic ability. As for Douby...eh, I dunno. As for my personal opinions, I'm really not sure. I think Devin Harris has a great chance. I think Frank will pull the reigns off him next year and let him run the team - something Avery Johnson never did in Dallas. I also have to look at someone like Francisco Garcia, who might get some ample playing time with Artest out of the picture as well. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Marvin Williams had an even better season this year than he did last year.
