What do you want to see here?

    As in, give me ideas.

Every week, I'll put up a game thread, I'll post articles I find interesting, and I'll give post game comments and such...

But what else do you want?

Maybe we can do a player spotlight feature every week? As in, we pick a player to focus in on... we'll talk about him... then come game time, we'll keep a close watch on him and give our thoughts on his play? Just an idea...

Love to hear more ideas too.

And I know GMJ is good with graphics stuff... we can probably persuade him to do something, if we need it.

Vintage has a ton of uncompromising pictures of me, so I'm down.

The player spotlight light is a good idea. For instance I would have been interested to see one on Roy last game: "Hey what happened to Roy? He hasn't made too many gaffes." "Yeah he had a sweet break up play." "Nah that was Mike Jenkins. Roy just fractured his arm." haha seriously though I think it could be neat. Scandrick watch?

LOL... I got confused on that play too. I actually screamed "Rooooooy" when it happened... then I was like "oh shit, that's not Roy. That's Jenkins. Rooooookie!"

Awesome play. He saved 7 for sure.

    Excellent idea on Scandrick too.

I know when Newman was missing in game one, they actually had Scandrick as the nickel CB. They are using him in the slot a la Newman in those packages because of his insane athleticism. And Jenkins is staying outside (a la Jones/Henry). That is why during the Cleveland game, Scandrick got more playing time than Jenkins... Scandrick replaces Newman (when injured) in nickle/dime situations inside in the slot.

In the Eagles game, I was too drunk to notice. But my guess is Jenkins played more with Newman returning. Reason being: in the nickel, it was Henry, Jones, and Newman. And in the dime, they want to move Henry inside opposite Newman to cover TEs, which means we need someone to take over at RCB on the outside... which is what Jenkins does.

I hope that makes some sense.... can't tell if I was unclear in that.

    IOW...

In our base 3-4 package, we have 2 CBs on the field. Newman and Henry. Newman is at LCB; Henry at RCB. When we go into the nickel, Newman moves into the slot. Adam Jones comes in and "replaces" Newman at LCB. The reason for this is: the slot requires more athleticism to guard 1v1. On the "outside", you have the sideline to help and safeties over the top... makes it easier. In the slot, the WR can run just about anywhere and it does require a good deal of athleticism to defend well. Newman has that athleticism...and more importantly, we often don't need to worry about giving him help.

When we go to the dime, its similar. Newman stays in the slot, Adam Jones is still at LCB. The new wrinkle this year is that Henry is moving into the slot too, on the opposite side of the field of Newman. So Newman and Henry are in the slots.... Adam Jones is at LCB and Jenkins is at RCB. The reason for this is because we want to use Henry to guard TEs more this year, so we move him into the slot at times in the dime defense.

So normally, one would expect Jenkins to play more than Scandrick... (Scandrick being the 5th CB)... and that's true... when everyone is healthy. But in game 1, we didn't have Newman.... and Scandrick is the backup to Newman in the nickel/dime packages, so Scandrick came in and played more because he is the backup slot CB.... Jenkins didn't get much playing time because we were in the dime less often than we were in the nickel (when Scandrick was playing, too)

So I guess Jenkins isn't as athletic to play the slot?

I've always thought that Scandrick was the better hitter, but Jenkins the better cover-guy, but that's just draft perceptions and some training camp.

Scandrick is a smaller, more athletic type than Jenkins. Jenkins is probably athletic enough to play in the slot.. its just that initially, more playing time will be given to an outside CB than an inside CB so.... we had Jenkins learn the outside part. And Scandrick learned the inside position because we needed someone to back up Newman. Then Newman actually got hurt. But now that Newman is back; Jenkins will get more playing time than Scandrick.

Jenkins is better in man 2 man coverage; Scandrick in zone (bec. of the schemes both played in college). Obviously, we have no idea how either will pan out...

But if training camp was an indication of anything... we've hit homeruns.

I'd just like to see some articles from the local dallas news etc that are fluff pieces or tear the team down pieces as I find a lot of the media is prone to having a bias and that I can do without.
other than that I need to know about injuries.. but I need to know that for the league as I'm in a $$$ football pool and need to make good football picks ;)

a player spotlight on how their year is going so far would be good. Don't need to hear about T.O. or Romo, the national media covers them enough.
when/if I get more time, I'll try and post more about my Boys, but hell I didn't even get to watch the Monday nighter.

    Awesome .gif GMJ.

When you get the time, could you make me a Mike Jenkins sig with that play somehow incorporated into it... I noticed some people have sigs with a small animated part... could you do the same? If you're too busy, you can tell me to shove it. I promise not to get offended.

    :)

I can do a Mike Jenkins sig, but I don't have Image Ready anymore so I can't do animated stuff
