I'm guessing Josh Howard is on the cheap right now as he just dissed the National Athem on video.

Oregon already has Obama's brother here, and Obama hates America which means his brother hates America which means Josh would feel comfortable here . . . and the Blazers just happen to need a solid role player at the SF postion.

No way KP takes on a personality like Josh Howard . . . but he is probably available for cheap.

I use to want Howard as a possible SF for us but with all his problems lately and after watching that video I don't think we need him even cheap. I might be getting spoiled with all our good guys but I really like everyone on the Blazers and just don't want to add a guy that is a dumb/jerk/idiot!

If I could afford the naming rights to the Rose Garden, it would be:

I'm interested in hearing what kind of deal you have in mind. Even with all the controversy Howard has been surrounded with, I doubt Cubes lets him go for cheap.

I could throw out names, but I don't think Blazers have any interest in Howard, they are reshaping their image.

I think he would be a good fit on the Spurs . . . if the team can deal with his attitude.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Heh, if Portland could get him "cheap," he'd be a spectacular pick-up. He's not a chemistry problem, since he's not playing for a US Army team. I have no idea whether he's a good or bad person, but I don't much care. He's an excellent player, fills a need and isn't considered a bad teammate, so far as I know.

But I don't think the Mavericks are willing to give up their second-best player (especially after throwing away Devin Harris).

    Nice call.

Mark Cuban doesn’t blame his guy for uttering PR-unfriendly things; no, he blames the technology that allows high-profile athletes to broadcast their uncensored views to the unwashed masses.

    From the Dallas Morning News:

“That said, we will be going through some advanced communication-skill sessions together this training camp,” Cuban said Tuesday. “I have explained to him that cellphone cameras are not your friend and that what you think you said on camera is never what people will hear when it shows up on YouTube or TV.”

“There is only one universal response that works: ‘Both teams played hard.’

I love that Cuban quotes Rasheed Wallace when discussing this. Since, you know, that guy never says anything inflammatory.

I've been saying this for a while, Howard would be a great fit at SF. Celebrating the national anthem or not doesn't effect his play on the court; the other stuff this summer is a bit more worrying but he's still worth taking a risk.

I don't follow you...he didn't seem to be blaming the technology. He was saying that Howard needs to understand that in this era of cellphone cameras and YouTube, anyone can soundbite you, so you need to be careful what you say. The point is valid and it doesn't sound like the blame is placed on anyone but Howard for not being savvy enough.

I didn't take it that way. From reading what Cuban and the Mavericks said from ESPN and I think I read it on CNN also. Cuban wasn't really saying Howard did anything wrong especially after all the other problems he has had earlier this summer. He blames the video twisting what Howard said. Outside of the video which I think is a complete bunch of crap by a dumb ass jerk Howard has had other stuff far worse and still I don't think Cuban really cares as long as he can keep playing basketball. Like I said I'm usually a Cuban fan but I have lost all respect for him now.

Here is what rotoworld is reporting:

    Josh Howard-G/F- Mavericks Sep. 17 - 9:44 am et

Mark Cuban says the Mavericks already addressed Josh Howard's dissing of the National Anthem back in July when it happened and that the team will go through some "Advanced communication-skills training" during camp.

"Josh really is a good guy with a great heart," Cuban said. "He just doesn’t do a good job of showing that side of himself publicly. We will work on that." After Howard's controversial birthday party and marijuana rant in the spring, and his summer of drag racing and Anthem dissing, look for Cuban to try and get Howard's public image back to a respectable level and then attempt to move him.

The only thing Cuban is worried about is Howard image so he can trade him and get good value.

Screw this chump! People in Portland always talk about changing the culture of our club. This guy is a bitch! I served in the Army with some amazing "Black" friends of mine that might argue with his opinion.

To be honest I don't really want Howard on the Blazers. I hope we make a run next year at Turkoglu or Childress in the offseason

What do you see in Turkoglu, and how much do you think he's worth? he put up some decent offensive numbers last season, but up til then he was just another horrific contract.

I like Childress, but mostly as a bench player. Can he shoot the 3 yet?

Turkoglu was a completely different player last year. A great one. If he performs to that level this year too, why not go after him? Then he would have obviously turned the corner.

Childress is a guy I've always liked and I see him fitting in at the starting 3 (Great role player) very very nicely in Portland

I think the Blazers could do better. If they're going to add a somewhat older player to push the team up the curve quicker, you'd want him to be more of a leader.

Even aside from his latest nonsense, Howard's never shown he ought to be a role model. He certainly didn't seem to take losing in the playoffs too seriously last year. If I'm bringing in an older player, I want a guy that I want the younger guys learning from.
