Wenger Slams Ref Over Kicking Kiev

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may have landed himself in hot water after blasting the officiating in last night's Champions League encounter with Dynamo Kiev...

Dynamo adopted a decidedly physical approach against their visitors, targeting young Theo Walcott in particular as they muscled their way to a 1-1 draw.

And Wenger was bewildered at referee Luis Medina Cantalejo's decision making, insisting Kiev defender Andrei Nesmachniy should have been given his marching orders several times over.

The Gunners boss said in The Sun: “The referee should have sent off their left-back three times because he tried to destroy Walcott.”

Arsenal were forced to come from behind to snatch a point in the Ukrainian capital, Dynamo striker Ismael Bangoura having put the hosts ahead on 64 minutes after Bacary Sagna conceded a controversial penalty.

Wenger said: “It was harsh. Sagna is confused because their player pulled his shirt with both hands and then he went down. This game was a mixture of frustration and relief.”

And the French tactician's frustrations did not end there, as he went on to criticise the official's timekeeping skills.

“At the final whistle, I asked the referee why he awarded three minutes of injury time and then only played one minute of that added time,” Wenger said.

“But he couldn’t give me an answer. He told me he felt it was enough.

“Every ref seems to have a different computer to calculate injury time. I still don’t know how it works. When we got back to 1-1, they looked very, very tired but the game was finished with interruptions.

“The game was there for the taking but we had no opportunity to play.”

Wenger's outburst could earn him a 'please explain' from UEFA and put him in the same boat as Sir Alex Ferguson, who could face charges after slamming the FA's decision to rescind Chelsea defender John Terry's recent red card.

Lol another Possible charge for Wenger. I must admit I saw it all and thought possibly. I just think he was pissed off in General. Thank God for Gallas
