    It just adds a friend, nothing else happens. Adds a plus sign by your friends name so its add a little variety to the members list.

    Plus, people will like you better.

    This version of the vBulletin software has some social networking features. On each person's user profile page, one can leave messages for them. Here is an example

    There are also Social Groups that can be created and joined as another way of communicating with one another.

    Nothing major, just a couple of toys to play with.
