I touched upon this in my Cavs 2008/09 Season Preview since the pieces appear to be there (especially once Wally is traded) and then it is up to Mike Brown to make a team which could win a Championship actually win the Championship. It should be interesting to see if he develops a cohesive, complex offensive strategy.
I have no faith in Mike Brown to be creative enough to take advantage of Mo Williams. On the other hand, I can see Brown getting annoyed with Mo's lack of defense and keeping him on the bench. While Ferry's two RFA contracts were very good, he still hasn't done enough to improve the Cavs. Also, the best Head Coach is Ohio is Brian Kelly at UC.
Shouldn't some of the blame for their lack of offense be directed at Mike Brown's assistant coaches? The Cavs knew what they were getting when they hired Brown. He's a defensive coach first and foremost. I'm not sure what the background is for his assistants, but I would think he'd have someone on the bench to help him coach the offense and bring new ideas on how to be more effective scoring the ball. I think Danny Ferry should be the one in the hot seat and not Mike Brown. He's the one who put this roster together and to be fair to Brown there aren't a lot of workable pieces to open up the offense. Maybe he has the players now, as the article mentioned, but I think Brown has done a great job of coaching for the Cavs.
