Nets to Monitor Yi for Fatigue September 19, 2008, 6:59 pm Yi Jianlian says things are different this year than last. He’s in New Jersey a month before training camp. Last year, he arrived in Milwaukee two days before the gym doors opened. He says he’s also knows what to expect. Still, the Nets believe they have to monitor his progress. After all, as Yahoo! reports, “he didn’t just hit [the wall]. He rammed into it, full speed, head down”. Getting Inside: New Jersey Nets - - Yahoo! Sports Source: NetsDaily
How many minutes per game do you think he gets in preseason? First 1/3 of the year? Second third? Home stretch?
I think that's about right. It will follow Yi's progress in importance to the team. I expect him to get about 21 minutes in the first half to conserve his energy, then in the second half his time will depend on whether we are in the hunt for a playoff spot or not. If we are, as I expect, he'll be getting 35 minutes, about the same as VC and DH. But this all depends on how the coach plays Brook and Yi. If he is sent to play in outer Mongolia in a DDM scheme, he'll be playing 5 minutes at the end of blowouts all through the second half.
ya they really need to watch his minutes... but also i hope hes been in the gym gettin bigger :/ and stronger :/
he will be fine...he's young and healthy..just dont over work him and play him too much in preseason. He needs to be trying to get bigger and stronger..hit the weight room kid!
