The Yankees will play the rest of a suspended game with the Orioles this weekend....If Arod hits a HR in that game, that HR would actually be credited as #493 and that would result in tonghts HR being number 500....whoever got the ball from tonights HR should hold on to it, it may become a signifigant piece of baseball history....

The ball was hit into the grass area beyond the fence, so I think the ball was given back to ARod.</p> -Petey</p>
no...in recent years, many fans have sold historically signifigant balls for cash....some people give the ball back to the guy that hit it and they give them other stuff like signed balls and bats....one guy that caught a McGwire ball back in 1998 traded it for a bunch of signed stuff and got to take batting practice with the Cardinals before a game....

So when some fan catches Bonds' record breaking home run ball and they don't want to give it back, what happens? It's up to the fan or because it's a record breaking ball it has to be given back?

It's up to the fan or because it's a record breaking ball it has to be given back?</div></p> </p> it will be property of whoever catches it....they could destroy the ball if they wanted too....for a situation like Bonds, they actually bring in special baseballs that have numbers and holograms so they can be sure who has the authentic ball....if there never was a steroid scandal, Bonds 756th HR ball would sell for millions of dollars, but now, no one knows what will happen with it....one interesting part is that Bonds is so disliked by so many people, I doubt he will be given the ball back for free, and hes such an arrogant guy, I doubt he will admit to caring either way....if I caught that ball, Id let Sothebys auction it for whatever I could get....It seems a little dirty, but you cant pass on chances to set your kids up for college when they come around....</p>
