    Roberts had three hits and Nick Markakis added a two-run doublein the pivotal fifth inning as the Baltimore Orioles posted a6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Thursday.

    Roberts, who has reached base at least twice in each of the lastsix contests, also scored twice, including the first, in whichhe led off the game with the first of three singles off Angelsstarter Kelvim Escobar (6-3). He crossed the plate threebatters later on a groundout by Miguel Tejada.

    The 29-year-old switch hitter later recorded an RBI with hissecond single in the fifth before scoring again one batterlater, staking Baltimore to a 2-1 lead.

    Markakis capped off a three-run inning with a two-run double topush Baltimore's advantage out to 4-1.

    Brian Burres (3-2) worked five frames for his second consecutivewin, allowing one run and three hits with three walks and threestrikeouts for the Orioles, who won their sixth straight game.This streak is the longest winning streak the team has enjoyedsince winning eight straight from April 22-May 1, 2005.

    Escobar, who lost for only the second time in his last sevenoutings, surrendered five runs and eight hits with four walksand three strikeouts over eight innings. Roberts' first-inningrun broke a 21-inning scoreless streak by the righthander.

    Vladimir Guerrero had two RBI and Chone Figgins had three hitsfor the Angels, who lost for only the second time in nine homegames and fell to 19-8 at Angel Stadium.

    "We can't win every game, but we are playing consistent baseballand winning games," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "Justhave to put this one behind us and get ready for tomorrow."
