I saw somebody mention AMD and Intel in another thread, to I thought I'd start a thread on the topic.

I mean it depends on what you do with your computer. I personally like Intel more, but with AMD you get more bang for your buck (and its generally better for gaming)

I agree with JFizz. AMD tends to be cheaper, but both are good brands.

I used to be a diehard AMD guy, but lately Intel is better in almost all respects (efficiency, power, overclocking, gaming, encoding) the only advantage AMD still holds is that their memory controller is integrated onto the die so in certain applications that are memory latency sensitive they can have a small edge.

AMD is very price competitive, so if a budget system is your goal an AMD chip can be a very good choice (just make sure you pair it with a decent motherboard (Asus, Abit, Gigabyte, MSI).

I'll go with intel cuz I had an AMD a few years ago and it made me feel like a tool.

not really, right now Intel may be better but it comes down to who makes the next advancement.
when I bought my AMD 1800XP (and am still using it) it AMD was making the better processor at the time.
it really goes back and forth.

AMD use to be better then Intel especially for gaming but not anymore. The new Intel processors are better even for gaming. I do agree it goes back and forth but right now I would go with Intel.

Yep, that's me too. So long as the computer works when I turn it on.
