He wanted that extension though when our team still had a decent core. He figured it made more sense to try to build on what he started here, then leave and try from scratch at his age. But when he saw what direction the team was moving in, he jumped ship. I don't blame him...he wasn't a stupid man. He knew his better days were getting soon behind him and he had to try to get the big payoff. I don't know about you but I wouldn't have minded him on our team even if he was as you say "untradeable".
Actually if I remember correctly Jason Kidd's contract extension came after he became unruly. He would have accepted the state of the Nets for the cost of max money. Based on what I remembered, Montross nailed it.
If you are right and it was after the Nets were falling apart last season, then I wouldn't go as far as to say it was a ploy to get him traded. He knew the Nets were rebuilding and would not give him the cash so by making his agent stress a contract extension or move him, it put more pressure on management to do the ladder. Kidd to me has always been a guy seeking a championship, I don't see a guy who signs a 100 million dollar contract looking for more money...sorry...maybe im just naive.
If Nets offer Kidd an extension at any point, right up to the day he was traded to Mavs, he'd still be a Net. It wasn't about the quality of the team, it was the cash. Kidd thought he could get an extension from Cuban.
Not interested. His performance on the court will never again be worth putting up with the man he is off it.
We don't need Jkidd anymore. He had served his purpose for this franchise and it was time to move on.
He's washed up. No toothpaste left in the tube. Even if he has decent stats, his defense and shooting make him a huge liability.
i see him going to the magic. he stated in an interview i read on realgm that dwight howard is a "free agent magnet" and would love to play with him.
What's with this "deserve a ring" nonsense? If people don't deserve health care, an ungrateful athlete sure doesn't "deserve" a piece of jewelry. What about what the Nets organization deserves from its players? How about that they deserve that everyone they play give 100% every day, and not undermine the organization? What about the fan base? What do they "deserve?" I deserve ice cream.
You're naive. It's more about keeping "score" of who is the "best" than it is abot actual money. Money is the way they keep score of the "respect" they have been given.
Texas would have an advantage as there is no state tax even before calculating difference in the amounts offered. -Petey
....if money is what he's after. Who knows he'll find the best spot for a ring, ala Malone and GP. Latest reading from Dave D is that is spend most of the time after the Olympics in the NY area, with TJ.
Lol. Wow I was waiting for someone to come out like they were Jim Rome and try to undermine my comments. Only took longer then expected. Congrats Dumpy!
