I'd like to see us land a player like Tayshaun Prince....no relation. I don't think they would trade him for salary cap relief though, so the deal would have to be something with Outlaw and Przybilla to start. In order I'd like 1. Prince 2. Wallace 3. Granger 4. Battier
What is Childress' situation this summer. Restricted free agent? Unrestricted FA? Or is he the one that went to Europe . . . for one year?
He'll be a restricted FA, but Atlanta should be willing to trade his rights since they know he's just going to go to Europe rather than play for them. In fact, they may even stop offering the qualifying offer, because I believe it counts as a cap hold.
Why wouldn't the Blazers have cap space in 2010? Let's suppose Roy and Aldridge get very lucrative new contracts. Say they get $11M each. That works out to something on the order of 6yrs and $84M over the life of the deal. If anything, that might be a tad high. But ok, that's $22M for them. Add in Przy, Oden, Bayless, Batum, Rudy, Freeland and Kopenen, and maybe another draft pick or two, and that's you're only at $40-$43M. Figuring in annual increases, the cap looks to be something like $63M. Hence, you can have something on the order of $20M in cap space (enough to pay someone the max or meaninglessly close to it) if you simply don't sign up a bunch of guys before then.
