First, Joe Biden and his wife only contribute $300 of their combined income to charity and now this...

    http://news.aol.com/newsbloggers/2008/09/21/george-obama-start-packing/

Dinesh D'Souza is a little too ideological for me, but this is a hilarious stunt.

edit: The starred word in my title was n-i-g-g-a-r-d-l-y. It's a proper word with a Norwegian etymology. It means cheap. I guess I should have used the word "penurious" instead.

Despite D'Souza being a douche, that is pretty funny ...

This dude is too over the top. I actually find it hilarious that he basically admits that he has family living in poverty in India, but yet he will send monetary support to Obama's brother instead simply to embarass Obama.

I don't understand why everything Obama does or doesn't do is viewed based on his race. At one point in that blog the guy accuses the media of being so tied up in "cheerleading" for a black president that they overlook his faults. Ridiculous, if anything the man's faults have been magnified, as all politician's are regardless of ethnicity.

Wow. My wife & I make about $75K per year and we give about 20% (church, 2 in college, daughter with uncurable terminal disease) to various causes- about 6 in all. And we're buying a house, paying on a vehicle and our own school loan. We manage to get by. I have a hard time thinking Biden doesn't contribute more in ways not mentioned.

The "N" word is in the filter, one of a very small number of words in there. This is a side effect, obviously.

D'Souza is one of the best debaters around, and anything but a neocon.

What people think of as "poor" is basically defined by the govt. as the poverty line. The problem with this typical one-size-fits-all kind of definition is that the poverty line doesn't define who's poor at all. I personally know hundreds of people who make very little money, but live in paradise and spend their time fishing and hunting and swimming and horse back riding.

Obama's relative may well be poor by some standards, but is he happy? Does he even want Obama's money or help?

I think it's more to highlight that he's not as charitable as he would lead you to believe.

Actually, what blows my mind is how stupid Obama's advisors are. Send his brother $10K and he'd be lauded instead of lampooned.

Judging from what got starred out, it looks like "n-i-g-g-a" is filtered. Reasonable word to filter, but leads to this weird result.

I remember on a music forum, "cock" was filtered out. Made mentioning the "Buzzcocks" (a '70s punk band) difficult.

As Denny mentioned, we don't know what conversations have or have not taken place between Obama and his brother, past or present. Who's to say that the man wants any support from Obama?

Because he said so when he was tracked down. He'd take a check from his brother in a heartbeat.

First off, this isn't Obama's brother. It is a half brother at best, and probably a bastard half brother at that. Obama has tons of relatives in Africa, and even in the United States. The man is only rich, not wealthy, like say John McCain. He can't just go around throwing around $10k to all his relatives....because he simply doesn't have the money to do that. This is ridiculous.

Okay, how about $100? It would make no difference to Obama, but make a huge difference to this guy. For the record, I have two half-siblings, and they're no different to me than full siblings.

Yeah, but are they living on a different continent? Have you met them only once or twice? And did you meet the parent you have in common only once?

I know that my girlfriend and I donate hundreds of dollars worth of clothing to Goodwill each year and I don't know any of the people that benefit from it. WE certainly aren't rich or wealthy.

If I had a half brother who by no fault of his own shared my crappy father (something I can understand completely) I would at least try to get in touch with him so I could meet him.

Not to mention the simple fact that giving what amounts to chump change for Obama would change his life for the better makes it pretty sad that he hasn't done so.

I guess a different question would be if the poor African kids I see on tv are really pricks and don't deserve any donations from Americans. I mean, if Obama won't give to his own brother why should regular American's give to people they don't even know?

Is that true? If so he is either a stand up guy or just plain dumb. I hope it is the former. If you can't milk the government for millions of dollars after all these years you just aren't trying.

I heard that rumor. Yeah...it sounds kinda looser-y to have that low of a networth as an old senator.
