Is that really true, or are you saying it for comedic effect? I'm just curious. If it's true, it's a startling thing to hear someone admit, both the self-awareness it requires and the comfort with telling other people.

Yep, I hate myself. Always have, always will. It's one of the reasons I work so hard on kaisan; it helps to mitigate the sentiments I hold toward myself.

    Why does self-loathing imply self-awareness?

It seems to me a sense of self-loathing could spring from all sorts of misplaced notions about oneself, just as an overinflated sense of self-worth. :)

No, self-loathing doesn't imply self-awareness. That wasn't what I meant. Understanding that you are self-loathing (enabling you to say so about yourself) implies self-awareness. Many people have self-esteem that is overinflated or too low and don't realize it about themselves...it just manifests itself in certain ways without them understanding why.

    See? Non-self-aware overinflated self-esteem.

j/k...I'm sure you're aware of it.

This is interesting to me. No, what I find interesting, truly, are people that have no idea who they are, or what their limitations are. A complete detachment from reality. At times I wish I could live in such bliss. But I can't.

I know I'm a drunken retard. Wait.....a FUNCTIONAL drunken retard. Is "retard" politically incorrect? I don't care.

My girlfriend and I had quite the discussion about how well I can sing and how good I could be if I took lessons. She told me I could sound like Chris Cornell....ha ha. I explained to her that practice doesn't change the sound of my voice, only my ability to use it.

My point to her was that I could wish and dream anything but there is a limitation on what I am capable of doing. Some people don't get that. A girl I shared an apartment with back in the day asked me if I thought she could be an intellectual. I told her that by asking me, she answered her own question.
