Mancini Praises Lazio Attack

Former Lazio player and coach Roberto Mancini has praised the attacking talent of the Biancocelesti while analysing the upcoming match against Fiorentina...

Mancini has coached both Lazio and Fiorentina since he began his post-player career in 2000. The ex-Inter manager offered his analysis of the upcoming match between these two rivals that will take place on Wednesday evening.

"I expect a good game on Wednesday" he told Radio Blu. "Fiorentina did well last year and their success can be repeated this season, while Lazio are certainly better than last year.

Lazio have two wins from three matches and Fiorentina have looked a solid squad, being led by the goals of in-form Alberto Gilardino.

"Gilardino? Sometimes playing gives you confidence, at Milan perhaps playing with less continuity was more difficult form him," proposed Mancio. "The Champions League takes away a lot of energy, but Fiorentina have a lot of young players who can recover."

Mancini is known as a fairly attack-minded coach throughout Italy and took a moment to praise Lazio's attacking options: "Lazio is a team with a very strong attack and if they locate the spaces they can hurt Fiorentina. (Mauro) Zarate and (Goran) Pandev are formidable pair, well-matched."

Mancini has been out of work since being sacked by Inter in the summer. He was linked with the vacant post at West Ham, but that eventually went to his former Italy team-mate Gianfranco Zola.
