I thought you might get a kick out of some these quotes the Piston coaching staff had to say about Kwame Brown. They are all excited about his "potential." "I've been studying big men in this league since 1970 and I am going to tell you this, Kwame Brown, at his size, moves faster and with more control than any other guy that size that I can remember," assistant coach Dave Cowens said. "He's been really good," Curry said. "If the kid was not the first pick in the draft, I wonder what everybody would say about him? I have a list of guys who make $6 million, $7 million a year who haven't done nearly as much as he's done in this league and we got this kid for $4 million." Source: Detroit News Kwame looks great until he comes face to face with his version of kryptonite, an nba basketball.
Lol that sounds pretty funny. The guy has no post moves and can't hold on to jack. He's a terrible finisher around the rim.
lol Seems like everyone is high on Kwame until he actually steps foot into a real NBA game. I remember there was a lot of hype around him when he got traded to the Lakers, about how he was gonna be the next Jermaine O'Neal or something, and blossom with us. That fool Mamba got sucked in, Kwame Brown was his favorite player at one point LMAO
Just wait until he actually has to play, then they'll likely be changing their tune. I look at this kinda like the way Sasha was for the first few years. Money in practice, garbage at game time. I think this is what will happen with Kwame in Detroit. He looks good in practice, but once he has to go on the court, he'll be doomed.
Well, you're definitely not giving Sheed enough credit. For a big, he's pretty nimble. With McDyess...what can you really expect as far as quickness goes from a man that is in his mid-30s and has surgically reconstructed knees? Asking him to be quick is like telling the Pope he needs to be an atheist, it's just not going to happen.
The first guy basically noted that Kwame was athletic for a 7 footer, which he I agree with. Just isn't very effective on the offensive end, or FTs. The second guy, I'm trying to think of which players he is talking about. All I can think of is like Jerome James, and then players not in the league like Brian Grant (in LA making 15 mill), Vlade Divac (when he signed MLE), Chris Webber (in Philli making 20 mill).
Just wait until someone has to pass the ball to him. This is what made Kwame so damn frustrating. He DOES have the quickest first step out of any 7ftr in the league. The problem is he cant catch, shoot, pass, dribble or dunk.
I may have to put that quote in my sig one day. LOL. When someone comes out of high school to the league, and many years later people are still talking about that person's "potential" there is a problem. You can only get by on potential for so long, Kwame has had every chance in the world to produce results. Playing alongside both Jordan and Kobe at different times, arguably the two greatest of all time.
How long until the Detroit media starts reporting about Amir Johnson outplaying Kwame? Or how many times Maxiell blocks his shot in practice?
Anyone saying Kwame doesn't have post moves is dead wrong. He's got some of the quickest post moves I've ever seen. Anyone remember him faking out Amare Stoudamire a few years back? It's his inability to hang onto the ball, to keep calm, and to finish that really hinders him.
Lol that's what I meant man. He gets clumsy as hell down there (for whatever reason). I consider the entire process of moving, catching, and scoring part of a "move".
Well that's because I have my mind on basketball throughout this entire thread, instead of the gutter like some. :[
