Great job by Reese and Coughlin. Obviously someone thinks he is above the team. I don't even think he would have gotten suspended if he had called or at least answered when the Giants called him. By ignoring his phone he cost himself two checks. Hopefully Hixon can handle the Seahawks and Burress comes back contrite and we all move on.
ESPN updated the article: So he just doesn't get paid for two weeks, but only actually misses one game.
None. Two weeks = one bye and one game. They nipped him for two checks but didn't punish the rest of the team too much. They sent a message and kept the damage on the field as low as possible. Nice.
Was it just him being lazy/stupid or was there some other sort of reason? This kind of came out of nowhere. Everything seemed good on the Plax front: he'd earned a nice contract and had shown a real commitment to the team over the past year or so.
No. That's what you get for being up in Norcal. There has to be more to this. Simply just missing a practice isn't enough to dock him two weeks of pay, is it?
Thanks for the updates guys. I was wondering how they handled this with a bye week thrown in. Good thing, too. Minimizes the impact somewhat by having the bye week ... and still takes away two paychecks, sending a message to Burress. Good timing. Anyone know what this was about?
Giants101 is a blog I read a lot and they're saying Plax's new contract included added responsibilities that he hasn't seemed to take seriously yet. He's meeting with the team today, so I expect the full story to come out then. Source: Giants101
At first i was pissed but then thought about the opportunity Hixon and Smith will have to prove if they could step it up. I think Burress out for a week could've been worse. At least he didn't do this during a week vs a divisional team.
Apparently there's some domestic charges shit going on. This is too bad to hear. Plax is one of my favorite players, especially after reading Giant.
