I really do wonder if Sarah Palin had made the gaffes Biden has in the past couple of weeks, if she would still be on the ticket.

I wonder if the brain aneurysms he's suffered has taken a little heat off of his fastball. It's sad for me, because I really like Joe Biden. I think he's an honest and forthright guy.

What makes you say that? I certainly haven't been impressed with Palin the 4 times I've heard her talk without a teleprompter.

Dan Quayle was honest and forthright.

(And right about Murphy Brown, too)

Woah... you haven't been impressed by a conservative candidate for VP?

Shocking. Normally you heap praise on the GOP.

Props to you for ripping a Republican!

You're a funny dude, Ed O., but unfortunately you can't joke away the criticism on Sarah Palin with sarcasm towards her detractors.

She's a moron, she's in way over her head, and there's a reason why the McCain camp is desperately trying to keep her away from impromptu situations.

Let's translate Palinese into Obamaese. He must be a moron way over his head.

    Energy Security is National Security

"Our enemies are fully aware that they can use oil as a weapon against America. And if we don't take this threat as seriously as the bombs they build or the guns they buy, we will be fighting the War on Terror for a long long time."

Hello, this is Senator Barack Obama, and today is Wednesday, March 1, 2006. I've got a couple of quotes for you, I want to see you if you can identify them. Quote number one: ". . . Oil is the umbilical cord and lifeline of the crusader community. . . ." Quote number two: ". . . focus your operations on oil, especially in Iraq and the Gulf area, since this will cause them to die off on their own. . . ." The first quote, the words of Al-Qaeda. The second quote, the words of Osama Bin-Laden. More than anything else, these comments represent a realization of the American weakness that the rest of the world understands and knows about. It's a realization that for all of our military might, our economic dominance, the Achilles heel of this country is the oil that we cannot live without. Oil single-handedly fuels 96 percent of our transportation needs. We saw during Hurricane Katrina this kind of dependency means that the loss of even a small amount of oil and refinery capacity for just a few days causes tremendous economic pain and soaring prices. A serious embargo or a permanent loss of our oil supply would mean untold economic disaster.

Mistaking a year on when something happened almost 50 years ago or saying "uh" a bunch of times does not equate to being unequipped or unprepared to be president. Not understanding the fundamentals of the economy or national security or foreign policy or climate change does.

By the way, this youtube war could go on forever. For example, McCain not knowing that Czechoslovakia is no longer a country.

Anyways ... back to the topic of this thread ... Palin is not prepared to address the nation unprompted. She doesn't understand the issues well enough to speak off the cuff on them. And I have no doubt that her campaign staff knows this and is pulling every card they have to try to give her more time to prepare.

I think all this is stupid. If people want to nitpick over this kind of thing, you can find McCain or any of them similarly misspeaking.

The 2nd video, though, might scare Obama fans. That's what he looks like without a teleprompter, and I doubt he'll have one at the debates.

Seemed to do just fine in all of the debates during the democratic primary campaign. He's also done the talk show circuit, and he's been on the campaign trail for nearly 20 months.

Palin has been around for about 30 days, has had two interviews with the press unprompted, and she's looked totally out of her element both times.

I'm not convinced about her either way. I'd like to see her be successful, exactly because she doesn't seem to have come from some party machine environment, and she isn't the professional and polished politician we're used to seeing. While people harp on a sentence or two of each of a several hour interview, I'm not seeing that she's anything as bad as people want to portray her. It's ridiculous to expect her to know all the senate bills McCain's been involved in sponsoring, what the votes were, and how he voted on every bill in his long history.

On the flip side, I see Obama getting a few hours of sleep at a time while traveling around the country. It's not surprising to see him (or McCain) fumble words or make a mistake that's just as easy to pounce on.

    That's it?

The only part that I found at all significant is about the conflict of interest question that she just repeated her answer. The others? She's either spinning or avoiding questions that she doesn't have answers to.

Which is pretty much what politicians have to do sometimes.

People can criticize her all they want... I don't care. That you would find these clips damning when many people who are less anti-GOP would not does not surprise me.

I don't think getting her location mixed up or failing to be able to answer every question put to her perfectly is an indication that she's a moron. She might be in over her head, but the same thing could be said about Obama or any politician with so relatively little experience on the big stage.

Palin has done 3 interviews and has stumbled and bumbled her way through them. She claims McCain to be a "maverick" a term that campaign throws around so loosely, yet she doesn't know what her running mate has done to go across party lines and get that maverick title. She couldn't even give one example.

Meanwhile, Denny you are scouring through one of hundreds of interviews/speeches that Obama has given. Of course he's going to slip up during a long campaign.

I'm not sure they are even remotely comparable.

I just wish she would stop talking about Russia. Everytime she goes there, she either says something stupid (Putin in US airspace), or something horrible (laying the groundwork for a war against Russia). I don't want a president who is going to move towards war with Russia.
