Coming out November 4th, here's the latest single "Gettin' Up" produced by Tip himself. <object width="448" height="374"><param name="movie" value="http://videos.onsmash.com/e/negta55KXdrvRGWD"></param><param name="allowFullscreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://videos.onsmash.com/e/negta55KXdrvRGWD" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" width="448" height="374"></embed></object> Q-Tip's work has actually been really solid post-ATCQ. Here are some of my favorites from him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc7UqLZH3ZQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDhDhZP_8so http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPlkY_o1G34
Q-Tip had kind of fallen off to me, glad to see he's back. Anybody see the skit with him on Chappelle's show?
Tip is that dude. His last album was on point too, but it was the Ja Rule era, so nobody went after it. This time around, he'll get noticed more. I've been a fan forever. I can't wait for his and Common's album together though.
I forget what it's exactly called but last October I went to a Common show and Tip opened up for him and at the end of the night he came back out and they did some Tribe classics together and announced they were working on an album together. Thought that might take a while now cause of Common's new records and Tip coming out with this. Super ninja edit:
Me too. Kanye's gone soft lately. Though that's suppositively a Dilla beat on Gettin' Up, but I just don't hear it. Others have said it's a Madlib beat, but I still can't hear it. Either way, it's gonna be amazing.
It's an original beat by Q-Tip. The sample was also used by Madlib Here's the sample, by Black Ivory Here's what Madlib did with it I think people forget the production ability Q-Tip has. He and J-Dilla were one of the most influential producers while in The Ummah
I just read an article on XXL that Q-Tip is going to do most of the production. XXL This is going to be a good time to be a hip hop fan, what with Foreign Exchange's new album coming out soon. If you're not convinced of Q-Tip's production ability, here is his remix of Nas - The World is Yours EDIT: The video works, but it doesn't allow embeding I guess. Just click on the link.
A Tribe Called Quest was genre-defining, sure, but I don't think Q-Tip has gotten any less talented. He just hasn't been in the limelight, which I'm willing to bet is what defines "falling off" these days. edit: He shits over Joe Budden I'll tell you that much! (Hides from angry ZAE)
It comes out on Election Day (Nov. 4th), but look for it to leak at least two weeks beforehand. It's one of my most anticipated releases along with Foreign Exchange, and Common's and Ye's new stuff.
New track: I Believe Feat. D'Angelo So beautiful, and it's even better when you can relate to a track. I'ma keep this on the top of my playlist. Get 'em Tip!
