We are investing a lot in him if we make him our president. One in seven americans over 70 has dementia. Reagan was clearly not all there in his last term, and we sure as hell didn't see much of him after he retired....because of the Alzheimers. McCain should take a test. Prove he is firing on all cylinders. He wants to become the oldest president ever. And if he kicks the bucket we get stuck with Palin. She makes Dan Qualye look like an intellectual. http://www.alzinfo.org/newsarticle/templates/newstemplate.asp?articleid=252&zoneid=10
Why not do that for all candidates then. And voters too. Can't have voters who don't know what's going on vote!
Funny, there were no questions about his competency six months ago when he was running against Republicans...
Actually I think Dutch is a great example. He was the most articulate president I have ever seen. And I think when we elected him for his first term he was in pretty good shape, physically and mentally. He tore up Carter in the debates. Anyway....he seemed to be fine when elected. But his last few years in office he clearly did not have a firm grasp of things. Physical and mental health tests should be part of the process. Hell, we do that for basketball players these days, why not presidential candidates?
In case you didn't know, the president is elected by............... wait for it.................. almost there....................... the people.
The same people who make millionaires out of people throwing a ball through a hoop. (not that I don't find it entertaining, just the concept by itself is pretty stupid.) How do we determine the test makers are competent enough to make competency tests?
How many voters are in the same age demographic as McCain? How many of them are at an age where dementia is a serious risk?
Probably the majority are not at risk of dementia. However that doesn`t mean there aren`t plenty of dumbass 18-50 year olds. lol
No kidding. I mean, how would you like to eliminate all the rednecks, gangsters and illterates from the voting pool. Would be sweet! Then real issues can be debated instead of hype, attack ads and shit.
Yea, but I guess realistically the ability to test the masses thoroughly is pretty much impossible. I would think it would make sense to have medical testing done or presidential candidates, however I`d also worry about the media overblowing the nitpicky stuff.
