yeah, like i've been saying, the debates were on last night so naturally we're going to get a bunch of the same kind of threads. i would ENCOURAGE having similar threads being kept in one single thread, not multiple, similar threads like UCT has been doing. I'm open to all suggestions, but if people want interesting threads on this forum, they should look in the mirror first instead of throwing rocks at others.
You keep telling yourself that. Obviously you two are obnoxious enough that someone (not me) felt the need to start a thread calling the two of you out. I'm not trying to attack or make you feel bad, but think about what I am saying. Xericx you have already been accused of post padding in another thread, and I agree. You just start a bunch of random one liners that have the same question in the body as the title of the thread. The "What do you eat for breakfast thread". Where did that thread go? It just takes up space on the front page for no reason. Also I'm sick of you guys starting all these threads about bbf when 99% of the people here don't give a shit about what is happening there. Reserve that "e-drama" as you call it for PMs or AIM. Or the two of you can just keep doing what you're doing and become the NVEs and JR Riders of this board.
I've always posted like that (short posts, to the point). Again, this is the OT forum, I am really interested in what other people eat for breakfast overall. No joke. I find it interesting, not everyone might but again, you don't have to read it nor do you have to open the thread. The options are there to start your own threads. I don't start a bunch of threads about BBF, I'll participate in some active threads as appropriate, but I really don't give a shit about them either.
Accurate critic of me. And accurate observation of your own topics....they do span a variety of things. Like me, you can get on a tangent and you have to admit you participated in the anti Kobe thing. And can do the soapbox thing too. To keep everyone a little happier here I'll lower the number of Palin threads I start, so the window isn't so full of that stuff.
Wow you two are like a real life version of Terrance and Phillip. Sadly you will probably take that as a compliment.
this is what's good about an open forum like this, people can discuss and hammer things out themselves instead of having others make decisions that piss off everyone. i appreciate the concern, and we'll try to improve. that's about it. but some random ass threads WILL happen, that's how it goes.
Good idea. I'll work on that. WORD! Xericx starts more topics than anybody. As a topic starter I am only a cheap imitation of him. To have a lively forum people have to take the initiative and start up conversations. If you piss on the people who are starting the conversations and they stop there will be nothing left to talk about. Hells bells, look at all the conversation there has been just because a few people got their buttons pushed.
actually you probably could. you know me pretty well. maybe we should do a thread where we switch and i get to be the republican and you get to be the wacko left wing radical..... and you can post the pics.
Yes, this is an open forum and we're deliberately not stepping in and making some sort of rule or crack down on individuals here. I like what I'm seeing that reasonable people can be reasoned with and that the community as a whole can discuss the issue and come to a resolution.
denny you are the shit. and i guess the only criticism would be that maybe some of the more tasteless threads could be moved to the tasteless thread place. (mature/adult forum or w/e its called) or maybe just bookmark the random thought thread like me, anything goes there, and if people dont like it, they will tell you. we are not all going to agree on what constitutes good taste, or deserves interest. i have noticed though that there is a forum on this site for pretty much any imaginable post could reasonably reside.
I'm personally not opposed to moving threads or deleting threads or editing posts or whatever you folks as a group decide is best. Make a poll at some point and make your rules. You elected your mods, you can empower them to enforce your own rules. My only issue is to not find the "New Posts" page dominated by threads that make the whole site look stupid. We're ultimately a sports site, so the more sports threads, the better.
I've got nothing against these two posters, and I'm for keeping the forum more open. Still, I think as a community that there should be reasonable limits that we impose on ourselves. When it comes to racism or, as in some of the things I've seen posted here recently, blatant sexism, then I think we've got to agree that a little self-moderation is good.
