Is it going to be fairly mobile like David Robinson?

    Command triple teams like Shaq?

    Combination of speed and power?

Is he going to be a dominant low post power?

These are the questions i would like to know the answers of.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I think he'll be a very David Robinson type of center, with the athleticism to slash and go to the hoop for passes and finishes, but I think he'll play in the post more than David Robinson. I'm not forecasting that he'll be as good or better than Robinson, offensively (Robinson was one the great offensive forces ever), but stylistically, I can see his game resembling Robinson's mix of athleticism, touch and footwork. I just think he'll also go into the low-post, while Robinson always seemed high post or face-up.

It seems like it's guesswork at this point... I think that we know some of the attributes he has (size and strength) and skills he has (decent jumper, some post moves).

The thing is we don't know how he will play... like what is his mentality? At OSU he had the bad wrist and I don't think that his game is necessarily indicative of how he'll play in the NBA.

Further, even if we knew his mindset, it's hard to say how Nate is going to use him. With Roy and Aldridge both having established themselves offensively, I find it difficult to believe that the offense would be built around Oden as a rookie. I would expect that, over time, if Greg develops like we hope he will, the team will become focused on GO, with other players creating off of the inevitable doubles that Oden will command.

If I have to guess? Some touches on the blocks, with his jumper left for future seasons. Not many double teams early in the year until/unless Greg establishes himself as a force down there within the offensive gameplan.

I had a chance to talk to Channing Frye last spring about this very topic. Channing said he is going to be a stronger, faster, better free throw shooting Dwight Howard. With an actual low post game, not just power.

He'll be like Shaq, although I think he's a bit more athletic. He'll be well over 300 lbs by the time he's in his mid-20's.

    Really? Why?

He should be playing at about 280 after being up to 290 from weightlifting.

    And he's 20 years old.

I dunno, I just don`t see him getting that heavy. I`m not trying to knock him, I like him, his skills and athletecism, just would be surprized if he got to like 330 without being chubby.

Well I`m guessing "well over" means not just slightly over like 10 pounds, but more like 30 pounds over, as well the comparison in the context was to Shaq who weighs 330-350.

Dude, your sig is money. Mad props.

But to answer the question, I think a combo of Shaq and maybe Ewing. I don't see a lot of Hakeem in him. If he can have shaq's power with ewing's mid-range game, I would be very happy.

I actually think that this is a pretty good combo... Ewing with healthy knees and more athleticism around the rim.

Hakeem had so many great moves that I don't see Oden being able to replicate that, and Robinson was such a freak offensively in terms of his face-up game that I doubt that will happen, either. But I could live with the Shaq/Ewing combo. :)

Wasn't he in his mid-20s sometime in the 1970s?

Next year I'm expecting his offensive game to resemble early Hakeem (before he mixed in the mid-range game). Though he is supposed to have a solid J, management has stated their intentions of keeping him close in to the hoop and Greg has spoken to this being his expectations of the coming year as well. I think he'll get his mostly on ally-oops and working the offensive boards. If so, he'll probably be dunking most of his shots and among the league leaders in FG% and FTA. Portland looks to feature a very balanced attack, so his scoring numbers and role will be less then they might.
