Vince doesn't need an army when he's motivated. Also this team right now is built for Vince. Vince needs good shooters around him (which he has now) and he'll definitely give them many open looks. Then if teams stop cheating off the other players on the court Vince can go to work. Personally I don't think the Nets will make the playoffs but who knows, crazier things have happened.
They can contend for one of the last few playoff spots, but a lot would have to go right for them to make it. For one thing, some other teams will have to underacheive--or at least not live up to expectations. Also, since the Nets will probably start out relatively slowly--a 10-18 start wouldn't be unexpected--they sould obviously have to play around .550-.575 ball the last 2/3 of the season, which while possible will leave little room for error. They will have to beat every team that they are expected to beat, and every team that is hovering around .500.
Even if we can't, it's still nice to see Vince come out and talk positively about the team like this. He has really matured from his Toronto days and is the leader of this young squad.
i really think that if everything goes well we can get the 7 or 8. i think we can do alot better than most ppl think.
The East has gotten harder recently, it's within the Net's potential, but it is harder than it was in recent years.
There need to be some key injuries. How well will the Wizards play until Gilbert comes back? What happens to Toronto when JON goes down? What about Brand? All teams suffer injuries.
I agree with you. They CAN make it, but in my opinion, they won't. But we have seen teams in the past just make that one year run, so who knows? Maybe the Nets can provide as much energy as the Warriors did a year ago. Not that they are equal in talent, but the one year playoff run could be them.
the raptors do have a reallly reallly goood team, they will contend with boston for the atlantic. i mean calderon, oneal, bosh, kapono, moon, bargnani, parker, and graham(although hes disappointed) thats a reallly really goood rotation/core of players.
Boston owns the Atlantic Division. Nobody is touching them. Celtics, Cavs, Pistons, Magic, Sixers, Raptors, and Wizards are in, in no particular order. Then you have the Heat with a healthy Wade, Marion, and Beasley. The Pacers now they got rid of O'Neal. The Hawks are going to be interesting since they lost Childress. So we're looking at three teams that didn't make the playoffs last year competing for the last three playoff spots. There are a lot of things that are going to have to happen for the Nets to make the playoffs that are out of their control.
I think Posey going to N.O will hurt Boston more than people think. Either way, this optimism from VC and the crew I like, but then again, this time last year, I remember mr. migrane saying "this is the best team I've played on"
Agreed about Posey, but they're gonna win at least 55 games this year barring injuries, Toronto won't beat them out for the division.
