    Brief History: Clube Atlético Mineiro, usually known as Atlético, is a football club based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Founded in March 25, 1908, Atlético is one of the most traditional clubs in Brazilian football. The first official match was played on March 21, 1909, against Sport Club Futebol. The team plays in black and white vertical striped shirts, black shorts and white socks. The team is known nationwide as Galo, Portuguese for rooster, its mascot, and was the first official Brazilian Champion, in 1971. Other trophies include two CONMEBOL Cups (the precursor of the current Copa Sudamericana) and a record of 39 wins in the Minas Gerais State Championship. The club has spent its entire history in the top flight of Brazilian football except for one season, and it's the most stable team in national competitions, participating in 14 finals or semifinals in the Brazilian Championship. The club is also known for having the biggest support of Minas Gerais State, with the second biggest stadium crowd in Brazil. Galo plays its home games at the Mineirão stadium, which is shared with rivals Cruzeiro.

    Brief History: Atlético Paranaense is a Brazilian football team from Curitiba in Paraná, founded on March 26, 1924. The club won the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 2001. Atlético Paranaense was born as the result of a merge between the two Curitiba traditional teams, Internacional-PR and América-PR. In 1949, the club won its ninth Paranaense State Championship, which gave them the nickname of Furacão (meaning hurricane, in English) which was attributed to the club and its great campaign in the competition. A survey made in 2005 by Paraná Pesquisas Institute shown that Atlético Paranaense has the biggest amount of supporters in Curitiba.

    Brief History: Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas is a Brazilian multi-sport club from Rio de Janeiro. Its football team, placed 12th in FIFA Clubs of the 20th Century. The club symbol is the lone star, represented on its badge. Botafogo means (he who) sets fire and is also the name of the neighbourhood where the club has its origins (Botafogo Beach). Botafogo FR is one of the biggest clubs in Brazil and one of the four major football clubs in Rio de Janeiro. In 2006, the club won for the 18th time the Rio de Janeiro State Championship. Nowadays, Botafogo is the only club to win titles in three different centuries. Won the state championship of row in 1899, many in XX Century and now in XXI Century.

    Brief History: In 1909, several youngsters, members of the German community of Curitiba, usually met at Clube Ginástico Teuto-Brasileiro to do gymnastics exhibitions. In September that year, one of these youngsters, called Frederico Fritz Essenfelder, brought a leather football to the club. He explained to his colleagues the rules of football. The youngsters liked the new sport, and started to play football matches at Quartel da Força Pública field. Coritiba Foot Ball Club, commonly known as Coritiba, is a Brazilian football team from Curitiba, Paraná. Coritiba's greatest rivals are Atlético Paranaense and Paraná. In 2007, the club won the Brazilian Championship Second Level for the first time, after being relegated in 2005, thus being promoted to the following year's top level.

    Brief History: Cruzeiro Esporte Clube is a Brazilian football team, from the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, founded on January 2, 1921. Even though the club's main focus is football, Cruzeiro also supports semi-professional teams as well, these include track and field, bocha, and bowling. After much glory, in 2005 Cruzeiro did not win a major title, something they’ve been doing since 1990. Not only did they not win a title they fell to 8th in the league in 2005, a bad performance for them. In 2006 with a combination of young and experienced talent, they got of to a good start winning the Campeonato Mineiro, their 34th, now only 4 titles away from archrivals Atlético. They have also got off to a good start in the league table, making some believe they might have a good placement in the table, this year.

    Brief History: In 1921, the club was founded as Figueirense Foot-ball Club. In 2001, the club was Campeonato Brasileiro Second Division runner-up, and was promoted to the following year's First Division. From 2002 to 2004, Figueirense was three times in a row Campeonato Catarinense champion. In 2008, Figueirense won the Copa São Paulo de Juniores for the first time after beating Rio Branco-SP 2-0 in the final.

    Brief History: In the 2007 Brazilian Football Championship, Flamengo surprised all the other teams at the half of the season winning many games at home, leaving the relegation zone and reaching the second place and then being defeated the last match in Recife (Pernambuco) by Náutico(Brazilian team from Pernambuco), by 1-0. After this match, Flamengo finished the Championship at the third place, leaving from the second worst to the third best. The most popular in Brazil with an estimated 40 million supporters. The club has been sponsored by Petrobras since 1984, the longest single sponsorship in any country. The Vulture is the mascot of the club.

    Brief History: Fluminense Football Club is a sports club based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was founded on July 21, 1902. The word Fluminense derives from Latin flumen, "river", rio in Portuguese. Fluminense won once the national championship, in 1984, and won in 1970 the Torneio Roberto Gomes Pedrosa, which was a predecessor of the national championship. The club also won the Brazil Cup in 2007, and won two Rio-São Paulo Tournaments, the major football competition in Brazil before a national league was formed. Fluminense is also the record holder for Rio de Janeiro State Championship (known as Campeonato Carioca) titles.

    Brief History: Goiás Esporte Clube, also known as Goiás, is a Brazilian football team in Goiânia, Goiás state. It is one of the largest clubs of Central-West and is the sole representative of the region in the Brazilian National Championship and in international competitions. Its main rival is Vila Nova. Goiás has a wide advantage in derbies between the two teams. It has the largest fan base of Goiás state and Central-West Brazil, according to a poll conducted in 2004 by Placar magazine and IBOPE.

    [B]Brief History:[/B] Major titles captured by Grêmio include one Intercontinental Cup, two Copa Libertadores de América, two national championships and four national cups. Grêmio plays in blue, white and black striped shirts, black shorts and white socks (first kit). The club enjoys a cross-city rivalry with Sport Club Internacional. In 2008, after the sudden firing of their new manager Vagner Mancini, the club hired Celso Roth. Within a month they had prematurley dropped out of both the domestic cup (The Copa do Brasil) and their state championship (Campeonato Gaucho). This led to the team going through a state of crisis and soon after, major renovation. They were expected to be on the bottom half of the table.

    Palmeiras and São Paulo should be in the next update for sure. They are very strong teams in Brazil.
