So with the season winding down, there are still a few spots up for grabs, and some pretty tight races for those final spots.

As of today, most of the spots in the AL are locked up. The only one left is the battle for the AL Central, where the Twins trails the White Sox by 1/2 a game. They play tonight, and then the Twins are at home for 3 against the Royals, and the White Sox head up for 3 against the Indians.

Over in the NL, the Cubs are in, and thats about all we're sure of (although the Dodgers look like they've got that division).

The Mets trail the Phillies by 1 1/2 games. The Mets have one left against the Cubs, and then three at home vs the Marlins, the same team that gave them that crushing defeat the end of last season. Phillies only have three games left, all at home against the Nationals.

When it gets to the wild card, the Brewers come into the picture. Currently they are tied with the Mets for that sport, and their remaning schedule is one game against the Pirates, and then three against the Cubs.

So with three/four games left, how do you think it will end up?

I think the Twins beat the Sox into the playoffs in the AL.

Over in the NL, Phillies take the East, Mets win the wild card, but the Brewers gave their fans a hell of a ride this season.

Its going to be an interesting AL playoffs if the Twins make it because the first round will be matchups of very similar teams.

The Angels and Red Soxs have very expensive payrolls and lots of stars on their roster. Angels 5-1 at Fenway, 3-0 in LA so they have pretty much owned the Red Soxs this year. But David Ortiz either wasnt playing or at 100% when those game occured.

The Twins and Rays are both small market teams that play small ball and typically wont overpower the other team. Season series is tied but one of the twins win came because of a playoff clinching hangover party. If Crawford does not play full time the twins will have the edge in the speed category, the Rays seem to have the upperhand in pitching except at the closer position, and the Rays infield defense makes more great plays than the twins. But the twins are a very hard team to beat because they do nothing spectacular but a lot of things really well.

Unfortunately for me to be able to go the the ALCS in Tampa I need tampa to be the higher seed because those two games will be on the weekend, so its either go to a rays playoff game by hoping that boston beats the angels or not going and celebrating when boston loses.

That's a pretty big statement, seeing as the Red Sox clinched it already :]

Or am I missing the sarcasm?

Pretty crazy night. Mets win in the bottom of the 9th, Minnesota wins in the bottom of the 10th to take the lead in their division, and Milwaukee wins with a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th.

Its getting to be exciting....I cant believe all three teams had walk off wins....what I would like to see is a Monday afternoon affair with Sabbathia at Santana to break a wild card tie....that would be epic....

Twins and White Sox both lose, so the Twins hang on to their 1/2 game lead in the AL Central.

Phillies won, Brewers won, Mets lost. Phillies now have a 2 game lead in the NL East, and the Brewers have a 1 game lead on the Mets for the wild card.

It'll be very interesting to see what the Mets do if they come up just short again this year

I imagine, after the Mets loss, that it's going to be the Brewers and Phils in the NL. The Mets have just been atrocious recently and their pen has been garbage.

If they do miss out again, I imagine that they're going to go out and revamp the pen and shell out a ton of cash to do so. Their pen has been atrocious all year and that alone has basically single-handedly lost them games, so I expect them to do something about that.

If the Mets don't make it, I'll see the season as a success.

The same reason why I'm not losing sleep over Boston not winning the East.
