Funny, since Brook wasn't known as a good defensive player, and Sean was just a weak-side shot blocker last year.
From www.netsdaily.com I'm excited to see Sean on the floor. Hopefully the Nets can run out Lopez, Yi and Williams in the same front court. -Petey
I know. On offense it would look like Lopez (5), Sean (4), Yi (3). On defense, Lopez (5), Yi (4), Sean (3). Sort of like when we had KMart and KVH. -Petey
That sounds good to me. He'll never end up being a Duncan, but thats a very solid player to try and aim to be. I also like hearing that Williams is more focused
Hopefully. If Frank has changed his offense like he does every year, I wouldnt be surprised. He like to go small last year. Maybe he goes big this year.
I wish we had a different big coach, Alex English would be a great mentor for Swat. He needs work on his shooting and with his reach and elevation he could be a tough guy to guard. I think Swat's gonna have another development year, and hopefully have a solid junior year. Brook, as far anyone can know, could have a better rookie season than Greg Oden. but I'd be excited if he can anchor the Defense by years end.
I agree improvement is needed, but his shot isnt as bad as you make it seem. Boone is the guy that really needs help in that area. Williams needs to just focus on the defense and run the floor.
Swat can shoot, he has a nice turn-around J and a hook shot, so he has some ability. Boone is another story. My point was that our bigman coach is a shot-blocker, but I'd prefer to develop skills like shooting, as opposed to working on established strengths. We are supposed to be developing talent, and because of our shooting bigs and the need for Williams to continue to grow his offense, a guy like Alex English comes to mind. Swat needs to defend and alter shots, but that will only earn him so many minutes. As a player he must eventually learn to become a 2-way player on the NBA level. Boone basically cleans up around the rim, Swat has much more potential and management should be paying alot of attention to him.
I find it encouraging to hear Sean is showing some maturity and i'm really happy to hear both he and Lopez are striving to be better defensively. Those two could be a pretty scary combination if Frank were to give it a fair chance to get familiar with each other, not to mention all of their new teammates.
