that doesn't matter. the chargers defense played shitty. they were terrible. but they were good enough to win if the correct call was made. and that's all that matters. edit - well actually all that matters is who ultimately gets the win. but as far as saying the chargers can only blame themselves because their d was bad, who cares? their d was good enough that they should have won that game.
It doesn't matter if their defense didn't show up, and I was the first person to be critical of their defense. They got screwed by Hochuli's bullshit call, plain and simple. It took a victory away from them after their awesome 2nd half comeback.
the call didnt cost the Chargers the football game, they did that themselves....they surrendered 500 yards of offense without that call....they failed....it is there own fault and they know it....
and even with giving up 500 yards of offense, they should have won the game. it's not that hard to understand. if the correct call is made, the chargers win the game. the chargers still had opportunities to win the game after the call was made and didn't come through, but that doesn't change the fact that they win the game if the correct call was made and that no matter how terrible they played, they still should have won.
even if that call is made correctly, they still might have lost....you just saw a QB fumble a ball without being touched, the Chargers could have botched a snap....bottomline: despite many opportunites, no player on the San Diego Chargers made a play that secured the game....they lost because they didnt get it done....no team loses to a single bad call, there were many other factors within the Chargers control....they failed, they lost....and they know it....it was their fault, not Ed Hochuli's
