- If the pressure doesn't come from Ware or Ratliff, it doesn't come. - ILBs are ineffective. For whatever reason, teams are picking this up with relative ease. - Every once in awhile, Garrett outsmarts himself. We saw that yesterday - The OL got no push. Proctor = garbage. - Newman stunk. Fortunately, history is on our side and he'll have a great season (most likely). But I am worried about the rest of the secondary - To those who thought we wouldn't miss Roy.... 6 ypc for Portis. - Why do we have CBs who excel in man to man coverage (Newman, Jones, Jenkins) if we are going to play soft cover 3 shells? 3 of our top 4 CBs are better suited for man coverage. - 47 passes; 8 rushes for Barber; 0 for Felix. - Dumb mistakes cost us. Some good news: - Folk continues to be money - Special team coverage units looked pretty solid - Austin came back with another solid outing
The biggest head scratcher to me was the running game. I realize it was ineffective early, but that's no reason to abandon it completely. Barber always seems to be a better second half back anyways, so I'm just not sure why we didn't run the ball. Jason Garrett must have been out of his mind or something, cause there was no excuse for that.
I heard a stat yesterday, when barber has 12 rushing attempts, the Boys are something like 22-2. he ran the ball 8 times yesterday... it's not that hard to figure out what went wrong IMO. I said it in August, I am concerned about the bend, don't break defense we play. I swear the Boys will lead the league in creating fewest 3 and out series by an opponent. They just seem to give up a long pass or run and can't stop the bleeding until they're backs are against the goal line.
Its about getting the ball to your playmakers as much as possible. Barber is one. We got him the ball 8 times. Was that effective? No. Was that smart? No. Crayton had 7 catches IIRC. He probably was thrown at, at least 8 times. Does Crayton deserve as many touches as Barber? Probably not. Unless Crayton is wide the fuck open.
