Down to the final four! Gamba Osaka v Urawa Red Diamonds Adelaide United v Bunyodkor (formerly known as PFC Kuruvchi)
Nope. There is the AFC Cup, similar to UEFA Cup, but the winners do not face the winners of the Champions League because the two continental leagues are not connected. Everything is still warming up, as I'd like to put it, for a very bright future.
What do the winners get after winning apart from the prize money? any position or ticket to play in major leagues or something???
This is a tournament between all of the best clubs from every "major" league in Asia and Australia. The champions also receive a trophy obviously. It is difficult enough just to qualify, let alone win the AFC CL.
I can't wait for Bunyodkor to be in this next season, they went from being in the lowest league possible in the Uzbekistani league, they went to the top divison in two years. Followed by the signing of Rivaldo and Zico, they are ahead of the team who has won the league roughly 7 times in a row, and are burning up the competition, one to watch out for next season in this league.
Yarp, FK Paxtakor were the club you're on about. I don't know how many times in a row they won exactly, but they did dominate for a long time. Bunyodkor played very well the previous AFC Champions League and you definitely can expect them to compete even harder against the dominant Japanese sides next season. Neftchi Farg'ona is the other dominant Uzbek side, but they fell off the winning page over a decade ago I believe. Here is a brief history of FC Bunyodkor from Wikipedia: I suspect the club has that amazing Uzbek player I've been ranting about months ago on their short list, Maksim Shatskikh. The Kyiv center forward is definitely one of the most underrated strikers in the game today. With him up front and Rivaldo playing behind him in the attacking midfield or deep-lying forward position, this team will have the firepower and tactics to put them over the top. Becoming a fan of the club, Barmy?
