This is so exciting. He should unveil his decision through a text message!

This is going to be interesting to see how it turns out. If he takes the Bulls offer, and it is still down at 6 years, $58 million, then what do all those "fans" that have done nothing but bashed Gordon for the past 2 months have to say? He will obviously not be greedy, and everything they've been senselessly bashing him for will be for naught.

I still think Gordon takes the qualifying offer, and I think he will be a bit stupid to not do so if the Bulls remain firm with their offer.

The Bulls start practice not too long from now. One would assume that Gordon already has signed his contract, since the QO is expired now. Why is it taking so long for any news to come out?

Yeah, you get the sense something is being talked about. My guess would be they agree on something in the $65-67 million range, with an ETO after the 4th year.

According to McGraw, the QO expires at the end of today, so it is still on the table as of right now.

Correct. It expires a millisecond before 11 CT tonight (due to Doug, according to KC Johnson).

So if Gordon signs this, does Gordon become a fan hero, and gets lauded for taking a pay cut to stay with the team?

    EDIT:

Also, it would just be great if there was a corresponding trade going along with this (if Gordon does sign), and that's what's taking so long. They would just get some good buzz and excitement going around the Bulls to start the year.

Update 10/1/08 - After initially saying he would take the 1 year qualifying offer, it appears Ben Gordon is still weighing his options. Gordon is mulling over taking the 1 year deal or a long term extension that is on the table.

Tech9 is a pretty consistently biased source, but he's still a source, and I note that his language here is "a long term extension that is on the table". Perhaps I'm parsing too much, but that's different than "the long term extension that has been on the table".

Maybe the Bulls have sweetened their deal a bit?
