Is that your fancy way of saying you agree that he's a horrible candidate for VP and not worth defending?

I disagree. I think voters who want to support McCain or support McCain because of Palin are very concerned that Palin can not cut it when it comes to being VP.

And nitpick? Have you seen her interivews . . . even republicans are concerned.

BTW- I think I have switched. The economy is so bad it's time I think about myself and not the nation. It's a dog eat dog world and while I think Obama is better for the country, McCain will be better for me. So go McCain . . . but please stay healthy because a president Palin is good for no one.

The obvious answer Palin (or anybody) could give on the supreme court decision is the Miranda decision. Anybody watching a cop show knows that it's a little silly to have to read the whole damned thing, and that there's got to be a better way to secure people's rights without harming so many prosecutions. It's a nice, non-controversial answer that everybody can relate to and agree on.

The inability to name a single newspaper is astonishing, and to me speaks not to a lack of intelligence but a lack of confidence. This answer reminds me of Martel Webster when he's in one of his slumps. She's so choked up in failure that she can't even do the easy things anymore.

I understand the McCain camp have been putting her through debate boot camp over the past 4 days. I wonder if a better solution might be just to have her seek a sports psychologist. If she's choking like this in one-on-one interviews, what's it going to be like for her in front of a big audience on national TV?

miranda didn't require that police officers read from a little card. law enforcement just went that route so that the officers didn't screw up. there have been many, many criminal procedure cases since that has further crystalized the requirements, though.

What's it going to be like when she's in front of world leaders who aren't doing a photo-op with her? What's it going to be like when the media actually grows a set, and calls her on stuff? What's it going to be like when she's actually in charge?

How she's reacting now is a pretty good indication of how poor she would act as VP. When you have conservatives saying that comparing her to Dan Quayle is an insult to Dan Quayle...well, what more do you have to say?

Sorry, barfo, but this isn't BBF.com. You're no longer the only one who is allowed to be snarky.

    Taxes.

I beleive Obama will be reaching out and helping the people that really need help. And that is a good and noble and right thing to do. And I am anything but independently wealthy or a corporate elite or anything like that, but, as maxiep said, I don't need gov't help.

Of course I realize a strong middle class (that I think is eroding) is good for the nation. But man this economy has me freaked out. Poverty sucks and those people deserve help, but I don't feel that it should come out of my paycheck right now.

I know how bad this sounds and I've been for Obama ever since he won the democratic nomination, but I like these boards because no one knows who I am and I can say things even if politcally incorrect or flat out makes me an asshole (like I think my thoughts do here).

My deep down feeling is that I wil personally benefit more with McCain as president. Will the country be better off . . . I don't think so . . . but honestly I don't know enough about politics to feel confident about that and i do feel confident McCain will put more money in my pocket.

I am wrong about this? (I would love to be.)

Are you saying I prevented you from being snarky over there? If I did I apologize.
Anyway, go ahead and be snarky all you want. It's fun for the whole family.

Really? What do you compute as the tax increase/decrease (in % or $) that you'll see under each candidate?

I think it is very possible you are wrong about it. How did you come to that conclusion? Is it just a feeling, or have you studied their tax plans?

I checked out my own likely taxes here:
    http://www.alchemytoday.com/obamataxcut/

They say I'll get about a $980 tax cut under Obama, and a $801 tax cut under McCain.

Of course, I don't think either candidate will be able to pull off the tax cuts they are proposing after what's happened this past week.

Some people say that the difference between a democrat and a republican is that a republican asks: What can the government do for me? While a democrat will ask: What can the government do for those that are less fortunate than me?

Democrats ask: why tax me when you can tax the guy up the street who makes $1 more?
