it will never happen. Frank will not start SWill over Boone or Lopez. I even think Najera will see more time at PF than SWill. Frank has favorites and he plays them over who is doing well. Hopefully that will change because I think Sean Williams can help out with low post defense

he can start if we go with Harris Carter Yi Williams Lopez..i actually like that lineup but Simmons is better than Yi. For some reason I think Yi already has his starting job secured

I don't think you can put Yi and Sean on the floor together and play traditional roles. Just putting Yi at the 3 and calling it a day doesn't work. He's quick for a PF, but can't stay in front of SF's.

Are they really starting Yi? i thought he had a bad ankle and they were going to monitor his minutes.

ya like when we had KVH and kmart... kmart would play most 3's cuz he was faster on the defensive side... and kvh would play the 4... then on offense it was kvh as the 3... pretty solid ^^

I think this makes sense if Sean shows some offensive maturation and minimal ability to put the ball on the floor for short slashes without turning it over. Otherwise, I don't think we'd see that lineup, and we won't see it unless Williams has had practice time at that position (which it doesn't sound like he'd be getting if they are using him at the 5 as well as the 4.) The other thing is that Williams best gifts are used when he's close enough to the rim to give help defense and shotblocking, which he will do a lot less of as a 3 than as a 4/5.

I think Frank is just going to play best matchups, at least for the first month. Which I think is a bad idea.

I am picturing K-Mart with his ugly hook, jump shot, no post up moves.

Sean Williams just needs to use the same confidence he has on the Defensive side to translate it to the offensive. I am not saying he is better then K-Mart.

On the defensive end, I agree with you about if he guards the 3 it might take away from what he does best, but how did K-Mart work that out.

I think that should be the ideal lineup.

if you use Sean to defend the SF spot, he loses his biggest stregth. (help blocking)

Not really, Kirilenko averaged over 3 blocks a game as one of the best defensive 3's in the league. Tayshaun is also a talented defensive 3. If I were Sean, knowing I'm only 6'8" and 225lbs, I would be working to develop some SF forward skills, and become a defensive, shot blocking 3 who can occasionally score both inside and out.

Kirilenko did that as a PF.
Ever since they got Boozer and put AK at SF, his blocking numbers went way down.

I think Sean has limited skills. He surely can not play SF. You don't want him to ever dribble the ball.
I even think PF is a stretch for him, since he can not face up.
His offensive game right now is putbacks, and easy dunks ceated for him by VC and DH. That's a centers game. Especially in the dribble drive offense.

We have Yi, Najera and Anderson, who are perfect PFs for the dribble drive.
I thinks Sean is a C in the current roster, and he is behind Boone and Lopez IMO right now.

If the season starts tomorrow, here is how the nets look like imo:

    PG: Harris/Dooling
    SG: VC/CDR/(Ager - IL)
    SF: Simmons/Hayes/(Hassell - IL)
    PF: Yi/Najera/Anderson
    C: Boone/Lopez/Sean/(Stro - IL)

Anderson could be Inactive, instead of Ager or Hassell, to keep the roster more balanced.
(I'm still expecting roster changes though.. hopefully we can make a 3for 1 deal for a young stud starting SF (like Melo for Stro, Hassell, KVH, Sean or Boone and a pick :p ), and sign a 3rd string PG.)

In his rookie season Sean had bad summer league performance, but opened fans' eyes in the first half of the season. He was not impressive in this year's summer league, but looks as the season opener is approaching Sean is getting into form again. Hopefully, to WoW us all again and again. I can't wait for the start of the regular season!
