Posters who read my posts realize I'm a terrible typer and an OK to bad speller. Thanks for putting up with it . . . I do my best with the time I have. So yesterday I finally discover a spell check there to the right. I'm excited to go use it, but when I click on it, something in my computer blocks it. I have downloaded a virus, ended up buying a new computer and don't want to do it again. So I rarely download anything my computer blocks, I'm gun shy. Is this one safe. Also, I forgot how to let the computer bypass the pop block. (I know, pathetic) Should I download spellcheck?
Firefox has a nice built-in spell checker (though it does get some words wrong from time to time), but it can be "trained."
Spell check sucks. The occasional misspelled word makes us all human, especially in a free-flowing forum such as this one.
If you get a virus, the worst case should be having to buy a new HD, not a whole new computer. I don't have a problem with typos or bad spelling, but downloading a spell checker should be quite safe. How you disable your popup blocker or allow downloads from untrusted sites, whichever is your problem in this case, depends on your browser. What browser do you use?
Create a new post and in the far right corner of the darker gray box above the smilies. You see a blue check mark with the letters "ABC" above it. That's the spellcheck feature.
Hey thanks for the response . . . the posters on this board are a wealth of knowledge. I see at the top of my screen (at work) there is an icon that allows me to turn off the blocker. I might download the spellcheck, but it doesn't look like my typos are a big deal. So maybe I keep posting status quo.
