This is do or die for the McCain campaign. This isn't a matter of the bar being so low that Palin has to just cross that to be a winner. She needs to come in here and hit a grandslam. If she has stupid answers like during the Couric interview, she will be done as a national politician, and will sink the McCain campaign. If Palin flops tonight, Indiana, Missouri, and North Carolina will probably move into the Obama category. The question will be if other close states like West Virginia, Georgia, Mississippi, North Dakota, and Texas follow suit. (yeah, some of these states are within 10 points now, when they were huge McCain leads not too long ago). Make no buts about it, if Palin does poorly, this is the end of the road for the McCain campaign. It'll just be a matter of determining how much of a blow out it will be for Obama.
It'll be interesting, no matter which way it pans out. If Palin has a great performance during the debate, will that have enough sway to tighten up the election again? Or is the candidate at the top of the ticket too weak for that to happen. And if she is absolutely horrible, how big of a blow out does Obama end up winning in?
Biden really doesn't have anything to lose. He just needs to stay on his small-town BS to try and counter Palin's small-town BS. Palin needs to prove she isn't exactly like Tina Fey's impression of her. The last twenty minutes of the debate should be the most demonstrative.
im sure the handlers are telling her to go on the offensive. if she is asking biden to explain himself all debate, less time for him to do the same to her. if biden goes on the offensive, its all over baby.
There is risk with both strategies... when questioned, Biden will show himself to be lettered and well-informed on topics Palin has "struggled" with... but if he attacks, he'll portrayed as a sexist elitist.
I'm hoping Palin does good, even though I like Biden, who has been a long time supporter of Albanian cause in the Balkans. (for 20+ years now, together with McCain) Will try and watch the whole thing, no doubt.
They can't ask the other candidate questions like that. It is one of those debates where they don't interact, and just spout out an answer.
She actually did better than my expectations, and biden was smooth. Overall the debate was good............ Da da da damnnnnnnn, sarah got a nice ass. CK, can u post sum of her ass shots?
it was a pretty boring debate, and Palin flat out refused to answer questions. gee, if I had to do a presentation in college and talked about something COMPLETLY different than what I'm supposed to, I wish I could get a good grade still.
Anybody else think the entire thing was completely overhyped? It seemed like the only reason people were interested was because of the potential for a giant gaffe. Definitely not worth rescheduling The Office for.
She did better than what a lot of people thought, but she wouldn't answer some questions. Biden was on his game and basically showed why he was arguably the best debater out of anyone in the primaries for the democrats early in 07. I agree that it was overhyped and it's impact won't be huge in my opinion. Tuesday's debate could be though.
