Nice list of excuses I realize you guys have had some health issues and what not, but still, what you have is excuses. If San Diego is going to be this playoff caliber team you speak of, shouldn't they be able to beat the Dolphins of the NFL, regardless of whether or not their best players are "rusty"? And as far as Rivers....I don't see the rust with him. Maybe it's cause I haven't had the opportunity to watch you guys play much, but the dude has thrown 11 touchdown passes this year and well over 1000 yards, that's not what I'd call rust. As for your defense...last I knew, one player did not make a defense. Your team has way too much talent to be ranking near the bottom of the NFL in defense, regardless of whether or not Merriman is gone and Cooper just came back. I'm not going to count them out though. There's a lot of talent in SD for them to continue this crap play, but I'm beginning to wonder when they'll start playing well again. 5 weeks in and a 2-3 record isn't where you want to be, especially not in the talented AFC.
I'm glad to see Dallas come out and establish the run. Barber already has 6 carries after only 8 last week.
It really isn't an excuse. We are reliving the start of last season pretty much. The same shit happened to us last year. We're a second half team in terms of the game and in terms of the season.
Lets hope Big Ben tonight convinces Tomlin to use no huddle most of the time Tonight. Jags are having trouble through the season getting a legit rush. Nice TD For Jones. This game is going to be a blow out
Welcome back Felix! ANOTHER big play for him this year. When I first saw them going for it on 4th, I was worried, but that was a great call. Hell of a run by Felix. I have a feeling this game could get kind of ugly for the poor Bungles fans.
Miami is a very respectable team. A lot of experts actually picked Miami to win this game. SD was no easy lock to win the game. The Chargers have problems with QB's who can manage the game and control the clock, like Pennington. He gave them fits with the Jets, and he did it today with Miami. As for Rivers, it's not necessarily him being rusty as to him not having the chance to gel with our receivers, specifically Gates. A lot of his throws today were just a little over thrown. And one player can make or break a defense if it is your defensive leader. Look at the Colts when Sanders goes down, and us the first game without Merriman. We'll be fine. I'm fine being 2-3 (if Hochuli didn't fuck us over, we'd be 4-2 god damn it!), as long as we can make it through week 8 with a .500 record or better. If we're still struggling come our bye week, I'll be worried. Until then, I'm fine.
Agreed. I love that kid. He's been a big play waiting to happen all season, and it just showed right there. Hopefully we see A LOT more of him today.
19 carries; 3 TDs. Maybe... incorporate him more into the offense? Just an idea. Especially when he is averaging 8.2 ypc before this game.
We definitely need to find a way to get him involved more. We could use him the way the Saints use Reggie Bush, though I don't know if he has the hands to do that. I'd also love to see him used more in the 1st half, that way Barber is fresh for the 2nd half when we'll need him more often.
