I need to know how the old Rap Battles were run. I want to put up some general rules in here before we got started, then add some more as we go along. Please come forth with any suggestions, recommendations, and any other useful information. The rules are as follows: 1. Treat your fellow MCs with respect. This is a general rule that is echoed throughout the site and just because we are rapping does not mean we cannot show respect to one another. I'm not saying baby each other during the battles, we have N'Sync and Britney for that junk. 2. Nothing here is personal. These are rap battles, so if you come here and sign up for rap battles, you need to understand the position you are putting yourself in. Do NOT take anything here personally, nor should you carry it out to be personal. Come in here with a smile, leave with one. 3. Profanity Profanity is okay here, but please moderate it yourself. There is nothing wrong with profanity, we are all adults, but excessive, vulgar language can kill the mood, your lyrics, and your respect. 4. No Racial Slurs Need I say more. A lot of people frequent this site, let's not make ourselves look bad. I'm sure you guys can rap without racially attacking each other. 5. Keep Thread Titles Clean The thread titles can be viewed by the general public on the new posts page as well as on the Off-Topic forum. Please, the thread itself can be uncensored, but for those who do not want to see obscene titles on the site, keep the titles clean. That is all I can think of in terms of rules for now. Onto the actual rap battles. I believe you guys had days to reply to each other and you guys did battles of 3 verses. I don't plan on changing that format. I'd like to keep battles to be one on one, not this massive orgy of rapping. I wanted to do a season-like thing, where each person has a rap battle per week, and then after a certain amount of weeks we can then take the records of each person, and see who makes the Rap Playoffs. I say we take a week for each battle (4-5 days to battle, then the remaining days to pick a winner of that week in each individual matchup). Thoughts? Also, in regards to my suggestion of the season thing, that is only for the diehard rappers on the site. At any time, people can freely challenge (in the "ghetto" we used "calling out" instead of challenge) anyone else on the site, and rap on this forum, so long as both parties agree. This is not a restricted zone. Also, if you rap as a hobby and write your own lyrics, feel free to post it here for feedback. This forum is made for you MCs to express yourselves. I love hip hop (check out my avy). But rap battles on an internet forum is not hip hop. c'mon, that's as lame as a emo poetry corner.

I'm not in to doing these rap battles anymore, but I have no problem judging. I'll actually be fair in judging, it won't be like on BBB.net, where the people with the rep won every battle, even if they put out one of the most boring verses imaginable. Also, like we had it on BBB.net, I think we should have rankings (think college football). You'd have a mix of tournaments and battle challenges. I will begin working on a Drupal Group for this probably tomorrow night. These are always pretty fun.
