Who do you guys feel is the best playmaker in the league? Lebron is probably first, so lets make this who are the two best playmakers so we get some discussion.
Right now I have CP3 above LeBron. CP3 is the better passer and basically makes everyone that is on the court with him a potential scoring threat. LeBron is good and all, but more of a scorer in that playmaking sense.
For me it is Lebron. He can do everything. Score, Rebound, Assists, and he sets up his teammates very very well. Paul is a great playmaker too, but to me Lebron is more complete.
Then our definitions of playmaking are different. For me, LeBron is the better scorer and complete player. CP3 is the better playmaker in the sense that he makes plays for not only himself, but his teammates (and moreso for them as well).
I'm always impressed with how low Paul keeps his turnovers at too (compared with some of the other stars in the league).
Lebron also plays for his teammates and tries to set them up too. It's not Lebrons fault he passes to Boobie Gibson and Pavlovic, whereas Paul can pass to Peja or West. If Lebron had he teammates Paul did, theres no doubt he would have just as many assists.
Wow you may want to relax there, Paul easily makes his team look that much better. Peja and West aren't superstars either.
Don't get me wrong, Paul is a great great player, but Lebron is better. You can't tell me Paul "makes" Peja and David West. They are head and shoulders better than Pavlovic, Gibson, or "Only D" Andy
Didn't we have this dilemma with Kobe a while back, Huevon? The fact remains is that they are stuck with who they are stuck with and must make due with them. I still think that LeBron and CP3's roles are different for their teams. I bet if you take CP3 from the Hornets lineup, West, Peja, Tyson, and whoever else on that team, wouldn't be putting up nearly as good of numbers as they are now. Peja would still be forgotten, West would be okay depending on if he was given the minutes that he finally got after playing with CP3, and Tyson wouldn't be scoring at all. Hornets wouldn't even be 2nd place in the West...they might not even be in the top 8. LeBron may do certain things, but in the end it amounted to what last year? 4th place in the East, he may have the ability, but his playmaking last year was mainly his scoring. And that is where their roles are different. LeBron is still looked upon as their scorer, whereas CP3 is looked upon to make plays for others.
Saw this after I posted. I'm not doubting LeBron's ability, I think he is great. But remember we're talking about each other's different definitions for playmaking, and that is where we differ. I can only begin to imagine what would happen if CP3 had LeBron's body...okay, I'm sidetracking now
Well first I don't like the way you define playmaker. LeBron is not a "better" playmaker, maybe as the total package that is the case. David West is no Amare, and Peja doesn't do anything else except wait for an assist from Paul. Peja gets assisted on 81% of his shots, he's not the player he once was, and he doesn't create much for himself.
You can make your cases for Tyson, West and Peja being better with CP3, which is true. But they are still much superior players than anyone Lebron has.
Exactly, I don't think I could imagine the Hornets winning 56 games in that gauntlet last year with any other PG.
