Yes that is quite a significant amount, he averages 8 assists a game so stop being cute about it. Per 36 he's still not elite.
Where are you going with this? I compared two elite playmakers, and Paul is better than Nash. If the Suns weren't top 5 in ball possessions it would be even more evident.
Well you brought up CP3 being way better than Nash by killing his A/TO Ratio, so I brought up how Calderon kills Pauls A/TO ratio. If we were talking about players simply making there teammates better, then Deron is a better playmaker than CP3
your making less sense than Cpaw talking about Bosh lol. Tell me how you define playmaker? how much stats? how much teammates? how much perception? It's possible our definitions are different. Nash has more turnovers because of his pace and the chances he takes.
What is it that confused you? I guess I'm in the minority when I feel it is ridiculous to compare Jose and Chris? Well the top "playmakers" to me are PGs. There are players in other positions who are good/great passers, but I'd never rank them over someone like Chris. Nash wouldn't have as many assists then if it weren't for "pace", it cuts both ways.
Regardless of pace, Nash, Kidd, LBJ are high risk, high reward players. they take more chances than Paul. Using the A/TO ration to convey your point is fine, but At least to me playmaker is more perceived by my perceptions when watching the game. Magic johnson was the same height as LBJ and he's one of the best playmakers to ever play. Judging them by positions when terming "playmaker" isn't something I agree with And Scottie Pippen wasn't a top playmaker?
So what if Magic was tall? He's a much better passer than LeBron and the prototype "playmaker" to me.
Playermaker -- that could mean a number of things. I'll say Nash, for his ability to exploit openings in the defense with the pass, and the way he sets it up with his scoring ability. Arguments could be made for Paul, Kobe, LeBron, and Wade ... maybe Deron Williams as well.
Nash is still the best pure playmaker simply because his shooting is superb. It will be an endless argument about who is a better PASSER, Paul, Lebron, Nash.. etc. But because Nash is such an awesome shooter, his presence opens up the floor to his teammates in a way no one else does. There are a lot of speedy points with great court vision, a lot of great points who can play close to the rim, but there are almost no pure point guards who can shoot so efficiently.
I think JFizzle did bring up a good point though, and that is that assist-turnover ratio can be goofy and worthless. I was pointing out something but it really wasn't the backbone for this topic.
Speaking of this, I remember Deron and Paul talking about how they sometimes see what Kidd sees, but are too afraid or incapable of getting the ball to a teammate like Kidd can. Sorry, I had to say something about Kidd. I would say Paul is the best playmaker right now. Kidd still has excellent passing, but he's getting old, and the system no long runs through him. Nash looks better than Kidd because he still runs the system.
