Affliction: Day of Reckoning, the postponed second pay-per-view event from the Affliction clothing and MMA brand, is scheduled tentatively to be held in Anaheim on the 24th of January, 2008, with Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski as the headliner. No other bouts have yet been scheduled. Golden Boy boxing will not be featured on the card as the two sides couldn't agree to a suitable co-main event. Source: MMA-Rated

I'm positive that Andrei won't let Fedor come in and clinch with him easily like he did with Syliva. He will try to keep Fedor at a distance and use his boxing skills that he learned to keep Fedor away. Should be a good fight between the two, I will definately be buying this fight.

I'll be rooting for him, though. Depending on the under card, I might order this.

I've followed Fedor since the beginning and Fedor is in a different league than the Pitbull. As much as I enjoy watching Andre fights he doesn't stand a chance against a healthy Fedor... Affliction is going to get nice numbers if this goes thru...
Re: Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski to headline Affliction: Day of Reckoning in This may make it to the 2nd round, but unless AA is jabbing and going in and out a lot keeping his distance, Fedor will close in on him and get it to the ground and will be A LOT more mobile and effective on the ground than Roy Nelson could even dream of being. If AA stands toe to toe and bangs with him, this is done in under 3 mins.

Syliva dominated Big Nog for much of their fight before the third round when Nogueria got in a submission, since Big Nog went the distance with Fedor on two seperate occasions you would have figued that Sylvia could have lasted longer than 36 seconds. It's the same with Arlovski, completely seperate fighting styles and abilities, you can't use their wars to determine this fight won't last very long or won't be different. We have all followed him, it's not like your the only one that has followed Fedor, but there aren't many better boxers in the MMA world than AA. He has a much longer reach than Fedor does, and I think will know to use his jab alot in this fight. AA should be able to use that jab and keep Fedor at a much farther distance than he is wanting to be at. What I don't think we see at all, is the pitbull trying to let Fedor get in close on him, because that's where Fedor is his most dangerous. I for sure don't see Fedor just walking over Andrei Arvloski, that doesn't seem likely to me, even as good as Fedor is.

Re: Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski to headline Affliction: Day of Reckoning in Arlovski is one of the best fighters Fedor will have faced in his career. I'd easily put Arlovski as the third toughest challenge behind Big Nog in 2003 and 2004, and Cro Cop in 2005. He represents a dynamic challenge for Fedor in that he is a great technical kickboxer with decent submission defense. That being said, I don't know that AA has enough heart to take him out. Fedor is a cyborg killing machine and Arlovski tends towards being reactive instead of aggressive at times. Four of Arlovski's five losses have been via knockout so he is going to have to circle and move quickly to avoid Fedor's looping punches and stay out of range of Fedor's haphazard tackling. This is a much more compelling fight than Fedor/Timmay and represents one of the best possible fights for Fedor regardless of affiliation. The only fight I'd want to see more would be Fedor/Randy, or possibly Fedor/Barnett.

I know however that more people have followed the UFC than PRIDE and thats just the fact of things... So I just wanted to point out that I've been following Fedor throughout his career which not all MMA fans have..... Anyway, it doesnt matter what AA does. Stand up or take it to the ground. Fedor will dominate him. Thats how I look at it.
