Phillip can talk about how he could've done better... But he was playing on a torn ACL. That alone deserves praise. And shows his toughness.... and I don't think anyone could really question his play knowing the extent of the injury. I'm sure he wished he played better, but reality needs to set in. Not an easy injury to play with. As for the game itself... it should be pretty good. Like a previous thread/article stated, it has become a rivalry because of the playoff games. In some respects, it reminds of the the veteran 49ers teams versus the young and up coming Cowboys of the 90s. That bodes well for the Chargers, if it follows a similar path.
I don't know how you get the medical clearance to play in the game, when you had surgery to clean up the meniscus and cartilage the Monday before the game. In hindsight, his career would've been over if he had taken a hit to that knee. What a ballsy move by Rivers. I agree, he is being to hard on himself for not playing that well. To a Chargers' victory!
Yeah. It was disgusting. OTOH, shows you how competitive he is... if he's upset over his performance despite his injury. I gained a lot of respect for him after that. I'd never want my QB to do that... but damn.
He gained everyone's respect after that, imo. The media, to that point, had portrayed him as immature and whiny (which is fair; he was caught on camera jawing with fans and Cutler). After that game, he was one of the toughest SOB's in the league.
