Anyone think there is any hope he will ever become at least AVERAGE as a pass catcher? He is basically a vet at this point, and if Martz cant get him going, i dont know what will.

I am not sure what his problem is. To be honest, I haven't caught many San Fran games. Is he dropping passes? Is he not getting open? Or are the throws he gets off the mark?

I think its a little bit of everything. Seems like every OC hes had in SF hates TEs but even when he does get balls thrown his way hes shown pretty poor hands. Many of my friends who are 9er fans also say that while he is fast his agility isn't great and he doesn't have that ability to get wide open that many other not-so-fast TEs have. Hes also on the small side for a TE so hes not really a gigantic target like a lot of good TEs are.

Hes just not that smart IMO, not really a naturally great TE. That being said, hes been highly underutilized in SF. I mean why not just throw some screen passes to him? Dudes a monster and he'll get you positive yardage.

Conwell was the TE for Martz in St. Louis previously. I agree with Run though, just through him a couple screen passes if nothing else. He's athletic enough to make plays, they need to get him involved somehow.

i heard he was a great pass blocker, maybe it would be interesting to use him at FB? he could then slide out for passes that way, and he elite speed.

He's a good blocker, but just not that good of a receiver imo.
