Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW) College = fucking awesome. Walking home tonight was the first time I can remember where I actually thought to myself "life is great". Probably haven't been this happy since middle school.
Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW) Man, I got sick. I hate inconsiderate assholes in my school that decide to walk around sick, coughing and sneezing on everyone. Stay home.

Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW) What I find weird about the premise is that Bill Mahr said on the Daily Show that he's not atheist, just agnostic. I don't think I could make a movie talking about how crazy all these religions are...and then still not be convinced that there isn't some higher power out there.
Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW) He has a few main points in the movie. 1. Religion must end for mankind to survive. 2. I don't know. 3. The churches are stealing people's money, biggest scam in the world. He isn't atheist, because he doesn't recognize that there isn't a God at all. He's not really agnostic, as in he doesn't care, he just doesn't know. That's all he wants the religious leaders to admit, that they don't know. The only one who did that, was the Senior Catholic priest outside of the Vatican. This scene was especially funny, because Bill Maher was Catholic, and the Catholic church for the most part, has become a let's mold this into a religion we want it to be type of religion...so Catholic's are probably the most moral people out there, as they no longer believe so much of the bad crap in the Bible. So Maher was talking to this priest, talking about Catholocism as it was when he was growing up (really strict) and the priest was like, "we don't believe in that". The Catholic priest is probably the guy that made the most sense in the entire movie out of all the religious folk. The Catholic priest, breaks down how the contents of the Bible spanned over 2000 years, and science has just spanned the past 150 years (showed a timeline), and said, of course there is nothing scientific of the Bible (since Science is so recent, and came so far after the Bible.) I won't go into the movie too much, but I will give a rough outline of it's contents (but no specific details to spoil it). -At a trucker's church. -Talking to a fat guy (the santa guy) about the miracles he's seen God perform. -Talking to a formerly gay pastor about gays. -Talking to gay Muslim activists. -Talking to Jesus at Holy Land (funny with the little scene with the Holy Land PR lady) -Attempting to talk to the Pope, getting kicked out, and having to talk to a Senior Priest outside. -Getting kicked off the Mormon church property. -Talking to 2 ex-Mormons who talk about how leaving the church is social suicide in their communities, as well as what Mormon's believe. -A scientologist at speaker's circle in London, people making fun of him, a brief break down of scientology. -Trying to convince a Muslim guy (high up in their church) at that one place that is the most sacred place for the Jews (that rock), that the rock was just a meteorite. -Talking to the Mexican guy who thinks he's the second coming of Christ. -Talking to a senator about religion. -Asking various priests about why they are dressing so expensively (like this one priest who had a $2,000 suit, lizard skin shoes, and lots of gold bling bling on) where Jesus talked about being rich...and talked about how Jesus actually talked against the rich. -Being showed all the "Kosher" inventions that the Jews use to get around the laws of their religion (such as not using electricity on the sabbath). There is a lot more than that too. He just covers so many things, it's just a well done movie. The movie really never slows down. Some people, who really hate Christianity, think the movie slows down after he goes into other religions. Other people, (Christians), generally think he spent too much time ragging on Christianity, and that it got good once he got off Christians. People need to just go into this film, and realize he isnt' specifically targeting their religion, but all religions. I think they should require all students to watch this movie before they graduate from high school. Society can begin to make a lot more progress if more people were exposed to Maher's main points in this film.
