My wife is a nurse who specializes in HIV and HIV related illnesses. One of her patients contracted HIV at age 16 from heterosexual intercourse that was unprotected. It was her very first sexual experience. She died five years later. Of course.... that was her story. Just do some google searches on odds of contracting hiv and you will see that the stats as Denny presented them are repeated numerous places. My wife says facts like this are dangerous and that the only safe sex is SAFE SEX. If you look at the facts surrounding HIV transmission, gay sex seems to be the most likely way for Magic to have gotten the virus. Remember him and Isiah kissing on the cheek?
The stats are what they are; measured after the fact by interviewing people who have the disease. I don't know any site that recommends anything less than really knowing your partner's status (condom or not) or that the only sure way to not get the disease is to abstain. I've seen stats showing that 10% of the population is gay (probably higher since people are in the closet). If true and there's ~450 NBA players, it shouldn't be surprising that ~45 of them are gay. Not that anyone should really care.
There is also a group of people who may be primarily heterosexual, but have had a a couple of sexual encounters with same sex partners, or participated in threesomes, or orgies. Magic might have contracted the disease from a threesome or sex party.
dunno, magic always seemed kinda "swishy". nothing wrong with that, but he just seemed very effiminate. Maybe he swung both ways.
