How do you defend the post in this game? It seems if the other team (CPU in particular) gets the ball in the paint, it's an automatic score.

Also, why can't Ben Gordon hit a three any time during the game except in the clutch? I'm not buying that Kirk Hinrich and Derrick Rose can hit three pointers, and Gordon can't. They had to have messed up the ratings on that.

Also, the dribbling controls are less accessible than last year's game.

I might have to check out NBA Live, because 2k9 is definitely a step down from 2k8. I know Live 06 was better than 2k6 (which was utter crap), and I didn't play Live in 07, but 2k7 was pretty crappy too. They redeemed themselves in 2k8, but it looks like they went from a really good game 2k8 (think 2k3), and then ruined the game by changing too many things in 2k9 (think 2k4).

I'm 0-4 in my association. I just can't win. And it's not like a blowout, I lose by just a few points. I would switch Superstar to All-Star, but then both sides start scoring more, and it gets unrealistic.

Also, I have a hard time getting on a fastbreak. The opposition seems to ALWAYS catch up.

IMO, 2K9 is better than 2K8, but these slider issues are causing a problem. The developers really need to release a patch.

Hey Soul, I'm not at home right now, but feel free to add me for PS3 at ToFuSmurF.

Moo, I dunno how to get the optimum sliders for the game, it is so damn confusing.

BG7, Live 08 was good, I played Live from 03 til this year, when I got peer pressured into getting 2k9.

Fast breaking is difficult cause not only do my guards not even go for a regular lay up or dunk, the opponents are always there to fuck with me. It is way too easy to score with Yao, Ray Allen and Hedo can't shoot 3's unless they are open. Noone dunks over other people except Yao, K-Mart throws floaters up...random

    My association I'm 3-7 I suck!

Wow the Options are sounding A LOT more complicated then in Fifa 09. Literally the options for Difficulty are Amateur(Easy) Semi-Pro(Medium) Professional(Hard) World Class(Very Hard) and Legendary(Ridiculous)

I play in World class and my biggest result was 4-1 which was Arsenal 4.5/5 star team against West Brom 3.5/5 star team :(

I'll probably ask to get 2k9 for Xmas.

    360. I could get it on PS3 (My Brother has one in his room) but for three reasons.

    1) His room is a complete and utter Tip
    2) I'm not too keen on the PS3, Prefer my 360
    3) His room is a complete tip.

What do you have it on DW6?

    I have a PS3.

I don't know much about NBA Ballers, but to me it looks like NBA Street.

I have Homecourt the street game on PS3 and it follows the Street franchise well, they really traced the roots of streetball in homecourts, it's pretty fun.

Isn't freethrows harder then mug to anyone else. On quick rank matches freethrows are the reason why I lose. Got all my loses in one day. Loss to a dude with a 16% win record. Then beat a dude by 27 with a 90% win ratio. He didn't play smart by not fouling me. God the freethrows are the hardest it's ever been.

Free throws are like 100x easier than in 2k8.

Yeah, I scored 50 points with Kobe but missed like 15 free throws. Had like 30 attempts.
It didn't make it easier that crowd was chanting M-V-P in the clutch. :sigh: Still won the game though.:ghoti:

Can't tell if that's sarcasm? Well I shot about 92% all together for last years game and this one I'm shooting about 32%. Making 2k8 for me about 2 TRILLIONX easier for me.

Touching on a few things here...

I currently am playing on Superstar...which seems like HOF from last year. They seemed to have ramped up the difficulty of the game tremendously.

As for sliders....the one thing I've done is docked the CPU shooting sliders down. You basically have to do that. Their shooting sliders, for me, are in the low to mid-40s. I also pumped a couple of mine up a bit, mainly the 3pt shooting (otherwise you miss all of them), close shots (otherwise you miss way too many "bunnies"), and layups (otherwise you miss way, WAY too many layups.

I also tweaked their stealing slider down to 45, dropped their blocking all the way down to 30, and put rebounding down to 45 for them on both offensive and defensive.

For those, it was necessary as well. I had PGs blocking me when I went for a three with Michael Beasley...and it happened numerous times. Beyond that, I think I had probably a dozen jumpers blocked that game as it was, which is just ridiculous. There's no way PGs and SGs should be racking up blocks against anyone, so blocking had to go down. As for their rebounding....if you don't do that, they'll kill you on the glass. Sometimes it doesn't matter how good of position you have, they still get the board. I probably got outrebounded by 20 in the first game I played, my opponent had to have grabbed close to 20 boards that game. Since I turned their rebounding down and put mine up a bit (up to 53 I think), rebounding has been a lot more even.

In all...a solid game, probably better then last year, it's definitely more challenging. If you really want an optimum game from this though, you have to take the time to tweak sliders to your liking, because quite frankly, default sliders suck in most sports games, and this is definitely no exception. I recommend tweaking down their shooting sliders, as well as rebounding and blocking sliders. I also recommend you tweak your shooting sliders up a little bit, as well as stealing and rebounding.

A couple interesting questions I have for this years versions of NBA games big two:

NBA 2K9: How sick would it be if they added the feature to relocate teams like in Madden?!? The Thunder can relocate back to Seattle or Finally get a team in Las Vegas or St. Louis!

NBA Live 09: With the 2K guys dropping the College game, could you please, please, please add back in the College draft class option to shift players from the NCAA to Live. I don't know why Live took the option was taken out, but I already miss this option in 2K9!!!

Just some ideas floating around in my head...

I've won three in a row with these default settings.

Kenyon Martin hit a buzzer beater to win the game for me from the left elbow, with Dwight Howard on him. Fun shit.

I just beat Golden State in OT and my lord they are tough.

I had to defend the shooting of Baron Davis, JR Smith, and Jason Kapono.

JR Smith and Baron make wayyy too many of their random threes....
