Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW) When Columbus arrived in this unknown land he decided to make assumptions and do as he desired. Columbus' first encounter with the group of people he called "indians", was a group of attractive, unclothed people. He speculated that their nakedness represented a lack of culture, customs, and religion. (Wilford 159) Columbus saw this as his opportunity to spread the word of God. He did not take into consideration that the natives probably had already developed their own religion. He believed that they would be easy to conquer because they appeared defenseless, easy to trick because they lacked experience in trade, and an easy source of profit because they could be enslaved. (Fenandez-Armesto 83) He did not care about the natives' language, ideals, culture, and especially their leaders. Many of Columbus' letters showed his arrogance and lack of respect for the people he encountered. One of the letters read, "I have found many islands filled with people, and I have taken over as their highness..." Columbus never cared about the well being of the people already inhabiting the islands. These were not empty islands, they were filled with people, who had lived there for thousands of years. Only an evil man would demean, destroy, and enslave these people. Columbus was only worried about his own personal glory in Spain and not about the well being of the people on the islands he had stumbled upon.

Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW) I can agree with that, if you get stories interesting enough for people to read, your writing won't be scrutinized as much.
Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW) I ditched Criminal Evidence, but it is time to go to Critical Thinking through Literature. Peace, ya'll.
Re: Random Thought Thread (NSFW) I changed it. Thanks to everyone who helped with my essay. It's now printed and read to go.
